This is one of the very few games I plan to buy on release. If it is half as good as everyone is saying, it will be worth it.

There's a demo available on its site, if you're interested. Downloads like a rocket too.
49.99 Euros!? For one game without extras? Say what!?
*Orders DVD copy at a local webstore for half that price*
In yer face, greedy digital distribution publishers.

QFT...because unfortunately, most NEW games digitally distributed are as expensive as retail, and you actually DO NOT have to pay retailing, transportation, etc. So yes, ripping is all the rage with these selllers.
Also, i don't have current gen console, and i am a fan of Batman since forever. But, believing the GAMESPOT review, i *will not* buy the game for PC (the only platform i'd get it for), because there's a small but interesting tibdit of info:
"Because just about everything else needs to be unlocked, the first time you boot up Batman: Arkham Asylum, your first port of call (after creating or logging into a Games for Windows Live account so that you can save your game) will inevitably be the Story mode.[...]"
So there, they did the exact same cr4p that GTA4... way to go.
edit: bolded, for accuracy :B

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not really seeing anything bad in that GameSpot quote...

I guess an offline profile would work? That's what I use to play Dawn of War 2, with no ill effects (other than no MP and no achievements, which I don't miss at all).

GFWL is not actually a bad thing and works well in both DOW2 and Fallout 3. You just create an offline profile and you need never bother with it. GTA4 is an unfair comparrison as that game took it to the extreme. You needed GFWL and the Rockstar club thing not to mention SecuROM on the retail version to even run the game.
my pc version of batman the arham asylum just arrived...
did not yet install it as i have to embark for journey to school but damn im disappointed with the quality of release.
simple box and 20 pages useless manual. what is the point of buying it legally if you don't get anything for return? when i got a rerelease of mafia over a year ago i got fat 60 pages manual with additional info as well as awesome poster which now hangs on my wall over my monitor, for fifty bucks less than batman.
meh. can't wait tough to play it.

Aliasalpha: I was as isolated from the game as I could be but then the demo came out and I was bored so I gave it a go. I was pretty damned impressed with the atmosphere and gameplay so I'm going to be buying it
I'd like to get it on PC so I could have a go at making an Adam West mod but I know my laptop would run it notably worse than my 360 would so thats out.

Glad youre liking it.
Not sure how well Adam West would fit in Rocksteady's universe though..

"Initial activation requires internet connection; Online play requires log-in to Games for Windows - LIVE and Rockstar Games Social Club (13+ to register); requires disc in drive to play (unlimited installations); software installations required including Sony DADC SecuROM, Adobe Flash, DirectX, and Microsoft's .NET Framework, Games for Windows - LIVE, and Internet Explorer."
And installations are actually limited by GfWL according to some reports, as is Fallout 3, DoW II, and I think a few others. Some say it's all GfWL titles but I think that's a bit drastic.

are you sure about fallout? Bethesda stated in numerous occasions the lack of any drm in their product except disc-in-drive check aka the same drm method used in Oblivion.

Most likely yes, this is a form of DRM imposed by Microsoft and judging by some dev/publisher responses for other such games, they didn't even know it was there.
Well I played through it on my shiny new PS3 and I have to say that I loved the whole damn thing. Am I the only one here who finds Harley Quinn WAY too hot considering she's a psychotic nutjob? Actually that may be part of the hotness...

So who here was freaked the fuck out by the third scarecrow appearance? I still can't decide if it was diabolical evil or an act of genius to change the approach from a psychological attack on Batman to a psychological attack on the player. The thing that got me the most about it is that it was the game I got with my PS3 so it was the only game I'd played so far, then 2/3 of the way through I get a "crash" that looked near identical to the one I got when my 360's GPU went belly up. It lasted JUST long enough for me to start wondering if my brand new PS3 was fucked and then seemed to restart, good thing I noticed the non-bat signal and didn't turn it off.
How does the PC version handle that? Does it simulate a BSOD? Does it still ask you to move the middle stick to dodge the joker's shot?

^This.
Rockstar said the same about GTAIV, and yet some people were not able to re-install their game. Awful shady.
3.0 apparently brings no installation limits, though (optional online activiation w/serial is the replacement I think), so that's good...

but i never logged in to my games for windows thingy... everything was done offline including creation of the account.
i really really think it is a mistake.
It isn't. Once you make an online GFWL account, it'll eat up one of Microsoft's hidden DRM activations.
