I will probably buy it if/when the price drops and it's released on other sites. Do the mods for the "original" (tutu or Trilogy modded, I mean) work with BGEE?

On this page: List of good and bad with BGEE

They mention this: "- Weidu compatibility and conversion of popular mods to BG:EE"
This is supposed to be enhanced intro?

Ew.
I wonder how well this has sold?
Honestly I view added content more as defiling the original than as a bonus. And $20 for the privilege? LULZ.

Original copy on GOG DRM free with widescreen mod = more than fine.
The lack of faith in the "enhanced edition" is easy to understand, imo.

They didn't add any content that would be worth the 20$ price tag, considering that free mods have added a lot more.

They didn't provide any purchase option other than their own site, which I quite frankly don't trust enough to use.

Not only did they not fix bugs (bugs which, I might add, were almost all fixed by the Fixpack mod in the first place), but they apparently added quite a few. That's just unacceptable considering how little content they added.

Finally, and that's entirely subjective, they didn't change anything that I would have liked to be changed in a remake (better character sprites, making some quests more interesting by providing extra choices, more balanced gameplay, etc...) and didn't add anything that I wanted, like NPC banter as in BG 2 (and yes I'm aware that this was added in a mod, but still).

In other words, compared to a fully modded BG 1, this "enhanced edition" is worse in terms of stability and content, and it's 20$ more expansive. So no, I don't see the point in buying it.
Has anyone played it yet? Or are we calling to crap because we watched some little intro for it?
I gave it a go since I was very very skeptical of this from the start and it seems my skepticism has been fully justified. Barely anything has been improved, I LIKED the old 3D cut scenes anyway. The game is basically identical but with some very minor changes and also made the HUD bigger for high resolutions. In the end, if this was $5 I'd say good. At $20 ... I wonder who it appeals to. Most people who would buy it, already own the original and for a minor update ;... .
also be warned the game runs purely on open gl , a lot of newer drivers specially from amd and intel are terrible at providing open gl support

Nirth: I didn't mean as kill the series for new games, I meant that they don't destroy the games earlier. I guess this is more of an opinion then but I don't understand at all how for example a third game in a trilogy destroyed the trilogy in case it was bad but the first two games were good.

If you judge games based on their intros then that's your problem and frankly, from screenshots. What did you expect? All they changed that can be seen through screenshots are the new GUI.

As for gameplay, I don't understand this either. It's enhanced edition, not a full blown remake to change actual gameplays. I think they never said or implied that, I think they have been very specific that all they wanted was to "fresh it up" so to say.

F1ach: Not seeing it on google play, has it been released for phones?

Nirth: On the homepage it says "iPad november, Mac OS X november and android release TBA".
Thanks Nirth :)

Nirth: I think it's disrespectfull to GOG to encourage piracy on their own forum but yes, it's a very valid point. No realistic harm from trying the game, at least that's my opinion.

As for the Enhanced Edition, the lack of faith in a remake in this thread (or overall in general to old games) is disappointing to say the least.

Anyway, besides the current issues I think it'll be worth it once they're fixed. I wonder how long it will take for them to sort them out.
Im not encouraging piracy (GOG doesn't have it).Otherwise i would have plastered links and told everyone to get it. Fact is, there is a lot of people who don't like what is being done to this game , and for $10 for an old (but classic game +few bits and pieces), you'd hope people could demo it before parting with their hard earned cash (not exactly spare change or a cup of coffee here.....).

Personally I have trouble understanding how a professional studio can create such a fugly interface. It's truly a wonder to behold.

yea, $20 is way overpriced for BG:EE. I'd pay MAYBE $10, no more for it.

A little late for me, though :(
I laughed out loud at these comparison screenshots. Seriously? You made the "old" shots 1/4 the size of the "new" ones? What, did you think people wouldn't notice?

Please tell me these aren't official Beamdog press material, because if they are, it's the most blatant piece of hack marketing since the days of the Sega Genesis.
