F1ach: I think that if a game costs 60 euro and lasts for 5 hours, then price should be a factor in the review, but if its a gog game, 5 hours for a tenner shouldn't be an issue.

EDIT : out of curiosity, what game sparked the thread?

^The one for this game that just came out today. I downvoted and reported as spam so hopefully it goes away.
And the game is quite nice to be honest...
Only reviews that matter to me for any game are unedited youtube gameplay videos.

jamyskis: Price is part of the product, because part of its quality lies in the value it provides for the money. Deal with it.
There's hardly enough difference between $5.99 and $9.99 to justify the difference between a negative review and a positive review.

Besides which, I don't think that the price should enter into the judgement of a game's quality.

I think people get caught up on the price because "OMG it's 67% more expensive! PRICE GOUGING!" Even though that 67% price increase only amount to four dollars. Also, since we've had a bunch of 9.99 games released in a row recently, the sky is falling as well.

This isn't anything to boast about.. so you don't like his opinion, but he has a right to have it.. it's not spam, you're just abusing the system.

Please keep your finger off the vote and report buttons til you gain a little maturity.

Of course it should.. there are plently of games, and other things, I'd consider worth my money if they were cheaper, and plenty others I'd be pissed at spending more money for.

What about indie games.. I'm pretty sure we can agree some of them give us a darn good amount of fun.. but if they suddenly started charging $60, you hear the shouts of "not good enough" and "I expect this in my game"... so price is totally relevent to a review.

If this game is only 5 hrs... I'm not sure it's worth $10 either, it'll have to some amazing gameplay or atmosphere.

I marked the 2 star review as spam. All the review said was: $9.99 :(

Sorry, but that's not a review, that's called being butt hurt because you think 10 bucks is too much for a game.

I'm not saying that price shouldn't be taken into consideration when talking about the VALUE of a title. But downrating a game just because it's more money than you want to pay is silly. A good game is a good game, regardless of whether it's $1 or $1,000, and giving something 2 stars because it's a few dollars more than you think it should be just muddies the waters for those of us who are trying to get a picture of how good the game is. I really don't care if joe schmo doesn't want to pay $9.99 for a game. I care about how good the damn game is. By all means, make mention of your problems with the price in the review. But don't make it the entire review.

Besides which, that "review" doesn't even qualify as a complete sentence, much less as worhtwhile feedback. It's spam, and it deserves to be reported, regardless of the view he's expressing. I feel the same way about reviews that consist of "OMG 5/5!"

The review system in itself needs a serious rehaul here on GOG

For a start: You may only review the game if you own it

There are also other countless suggestions by other members here

Roman5: For a start: You may only review the game if you own it
Sorry but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. You're excluding everyone who has the game elsewhere, and even owning the game doesn't mean you've played it or played it enough to make a review of it.

Oh sorry bro, I guess you're right. "$9.99 :(" was an incredible review and should stay there for everyone to read. I downvoted it and reported it because it wasn't a review it was just a small little complaint about the price. If you are going to do that all, do that in the forums not in a review.

Well, that's misuse of the spam reporting function and makes you just as much an arsehole as the reviewer. The spam reporting function is there to report spam, not to suppress reviews that you don't like.

If you don't think a review is helpful, click on the "no" button under "Did you find this review helpful?"

That being said, the helpful review function is a joke too. People don't use it to highlight good reviews on the basis of their quality. Fanboys use it to kiss the arses of people that agree with their opinion and to downvote critical reviews in the belief that their opinion counts for anything. Look at the last page of the Worms United reviews sorted by usefulness to see what I mean.

Seriously, the helpful review function needs to go, and bans need to be issued for misuse of the report spam function. I'm sick of seeing both misused.

If anyone is "misusing" anything, it is writing reviews. "$9.99 :(" isn't a review, it is just a complaint.
