Lionel212008: I was thinking of something a bit more unique or obscure like say a number or something....
I'm just being a smartass. :D It really is a brilliant idea. My only concern would be people losing track of where the game world ends and the real world beings. Actually, that might make the game even better!
I'd fund a game with a new open source free for everyone super multipurpose Linux game engine that can handle all the Linuxes and all the gametypes and is generally the hyper bestest engine there is. The game itself would be a FPP game about a cowboy in colorful clothing finding himself in a world full of ducks and he must find a way to become the king of all the said ducks to prevent a horrible duck invasion. This kingship could only be achieved by engaging ducks of power in "combat" with a highly revolutionary "fighting system" in which you must do a duck mating dance to the beat of the high energy pupstep (electronically distorted dog barks, it's going to be huge with the teenagers) soundtrack. Failure in a "fight" will result in you looking foolish in front of a duck. There are various romance options as you come to love yourself again, and can do things like take yourself to the movies (that's movies about ducks).

Too much money corrupts the mind..

Really?....I am not sure if you are being sacrastic or not.Well, I remember this game called majestic that was similar except that it took minimal resources and all you needed was an internet connection and a webcam. The game took place in real time with people actually calling you from across the globe. It was going to be episodic but it never took off.

Lionel212008: I'd create an open world single player rpg - too cliche I know. However it would be full of dark gothic imagery, conspiracies in an otherwise normal looking world. The world is filled with anomalies such as mystics, secret societies harboring deep secrets with far reaching consequences if made known, humanoids posing as humans, otherworldly secrets and all this against a grimy noire backdrop. You are going to have to listen to conversations in sleazy bars, dark corners etc to know what's going on...You play a detective.

Everything you do has consequences.Far reaching ones....And the game keeps evolving in accordance to the actions of the player. Your appearance changes and people react in accordance...
If you could get the rights to base it around "Call of Cthulhu" you could have some fun with that.

"A local detective at the turn of the 20th century in New England is called to investigate a crime scene. An old man was found dead in a locked house. He was covered in blood, yet had no wounds and the house was completely unremarkable with the exception of a strange small green soapstone statue sitting on the center of his coffee table in his sitting room..."

If by sarcasm you meant my "brilliant idea" comment then NO, ABSOLUTLY NOT; I really do think it is a phenom idea. I know nothing about the tech side of pc gaming so I'd be curious to see if it could work the way you mean it to. I just think it's a trip then when I was a kid we had Pong and it was golden, now here we are talking about a game with characters and gameplay that actually 'evolve'. Far out.

I love the cthulhu mythos but that's already been done and there was a movie called "cabin in the woods" that was very similar. Although it would have a very cthuhu-esque vibe.Similar and yet grander and very different. I reckon that it could be set in the 20's and we would start off with the black dahlia case or something that is reminiscent of that period...

Are they early black & white Duck movies?
Or is he a modern day Cowboy?

Zookie: Sorry you can only use to make a game. Life is curel like that.

tinyE: Make a game where the goal is to feed everyone.
In my opinion,if you have this goal to make a game, it won't succeed. Game is a method to release presure, not make money.

It would be pretty cool if someone would get around to creating something of that sort....

I asked this exact thing a while back.

Cyberpunk Western open world action RPG. And hey look. CDPR is making that. I win.

You need some mystery in every romance ;)
If I had limitless funds, you can be damn sure I'm not going to hire out some other studio to make my game. I'd form my own studio. I've got plenty of ideas for games that would require a AAA budget. Unfortunately, most of them are just little vignettes or abstract concepts, since I don't really have any reason to develop them any further, as I'm not actually in possession of unlimited funds :P. The one concept I've been toying with (and creating different 2d versions of) for years involves a large rotten swamp filled with industrial ruins and trash, with dynamic sandboxiness like that of STALKER, but with more focus on survival mechanics and emergent storytelling. If I did that, I'd probably try to pick up the leftovers of the STALKER team, at least. Probably a few of the more prominent STALKER modders too. And I would also hire the Johnson brothers to work on the skies and weather effects :P.

Truthfully, though, I'd probably be happier with a small indie team (like, 3-5 other people), or just continuing to work on my own.

gameon: A modern day setting realistic style rpg could be somewhat unique. It could be based mostly on dialogue options. Think of a how a drama tv series works. Basically it could be like Heavy Rain but with the kind of dialogue options of Mass Effect and would be a "choose your own story" style game.
Yeah, it's called Alpha Protocol :-P Seriously, go play it.

Zookie: Assume for a moment that you were a PC game producer with limitless funds. What game would you have developed and what studio would have develop it?
A massive silent (no chat) multiplayer game with both human players and AIs.

From there, I'd try to make the AIs as indistinguishable from the human players as possible.

That's if I had limitless funds.

I don't think such an idea is feasible in a for profit game.

I would rather be a developer with unlimited funds. I'd work on my own games, and probably let Gas Powered Games make one just to give them some money so they stay alive (probably the RPG I call Heart of Stone but will have to find another name for because that's taken). I'd also help all the Kickstarter projects I like with really big sums instead of the few dollars I give them from my currently limited budget.

Edit: As a producer with unlimited funds I'd probably go on to support the creation of a new City of Heroes game. I'll have enough funds to get Jane Jensen, Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert (once he finishes the next Monkey Island), Chris Avellone and probably a few others to write varies stories for the game.
