Then you should probably complain about any "practical" course that any college will ever teach :p
If taught properly (and assuming no obscenely radical changes), there is nothing wrong with not being on the bleeding edge of technology. The same tricks that worked two years ago still apply today (albeit, if you are lucky, there will be a more efficient way to perform said trick). And even if there is a radical difference, this will still provide people with a pseudo-practical application of what they learn (something lacking pretty much everywhere).
Hell, by the argument of "teaching people how to use an outdated platform is stupid", most CISC majors should never bother to learn C (and one could even argue C++, since Java is rather popular and allegedly cross platform). Not quite a perfect parallel, but I think it gets the point across. Sure the platform may be outdated (although, probably still heavily used), but the concepts aren't.
