xxxIndyxxx: I am on a platformer rush as of late, and in my life I played loads of them. The only type of platformers that I do not like are the ones you see most lately. I don't like the ones where dying a 100 times in the first level is part of the fun, I also do not like floaty controls and I do not like platformers that are actually puzzle games disguised as platformers.
Not in, but I just wanted to say I like the cut of your jib. Hope you find some good games to play.
Nobody here heard of Legend of Kay? It looks interesting but for all I know it plays like crap...

I have heard of it but never played it. Pretty sure it was a budget release near the end of the PS2.
Duke Nukem 1 and 2
Spyro the Dragon series

Already got Dungeon Keeper
Hmm... No-one seems to have mentioned Earthworm Jim yet, and you should definitely give the series a shot if you haven't already. Mirror's Edge is also a very good take on the platforming genre, despite not being explicitly marketed as such.

Yeah have them, spyro is without a doubt amazing. Duke never disappoints ;)

Yeah I might give these another chance but i do not like them at all (in the gameplay department). I somehow got more enjoyment out of jim3d then out of 1+2 combined for some weird reason...
Mirror's edge is a personal favorite of mine ;)

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. If you have not played it, I implore you to check it out. It's an Action/Adventure platformer with RPG elements, tons of weapons and secrets to stumble over, a huge list of enemies and magic attacks, lots of gorgeously crafted 2D environments, one of the most atmospheric soundtracks in gaming, in short — and I've said this before on the forums — it's a masterpiece.

I'd recommend playing the original PlayStation version (because it includes the few FMV sequences), but the Xbox Live Arcade incarnation is true to the original apart from the missing video, if you wanna go that route.

And don't be deterred by the RPG aspects mentioned, these are RPG-light and won't require much micro-managing — the game is at its heart a Hack 'n Slash platformer.

EDIT: Ah, and I already have Dungeon Keeper.

stg83: Yeah, but the sequel is actually better with a ton of DLC still coming out now like the recent DC universe one. How did you find the Jak and Daxter series if you've played it as its available as an HD collection on PS3. Also the long running Ratchet and Clank series which also had the first 3 in an HD collection followed by another Future Trilogy on the PS3. :)

xxxIndyxxx: Yeah have them all and sly cooper (didn't like sly 2 though). Still not touching little big planet 2 ;)
Sly 3 did pirates long before Assassins Creed!:D I used to waste time just sailing around in the 2 player.

Good to know you have not missed that gem ;)
Hey xxxIndyxxx,
I choose some games I played some time ago on my PC and nobody mentioned about these in this thread:

Disney's Tarzan: Action Game
Disney's Action Game Hercules
Lomax
I-Ninja
Mini Ninjas

I don't know about availability of the games right now.
Have you played any of these?

I would highly recommend the first three Crash Bandicoot games, all of which were developed by Naughty Dog and are playable on the PS3 via the PlayStation Marketplace in the PS1 Classics section. Warning: All of the later Crash games (not developed by Naughty Dog) are crap.

Also, both of the first two Oddworld games (Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus) are absolute masterpieces and are actually available on GOG. Brilliant puzzle/platform games that aren't quite like anything released before or since then.

I hope this helps you! +1
League of Evil. Pure and simple, you can die a bit but a little hand eye coordination and you can get it done pretty easily.

League of Evil is the kind of "modern" platformer that i really do not like. Looks floaty, looks like it plays like meat boy. Short levels that take seconds to complete, suited for ipad gaming I think. The ones I tried like this just felt underwhelming. If a level can be finished that quickly, I feels a bit empty to me. I did look into it and it looks like fun if you like these platformers. But for me personally it's a no go. Thanks for the suggestion though.

The fact that you don't like platform games with "floaty" controls makes me think all the more strongly that you would probably love the first three Crash Bandicoot games (the ones made by Naughty Dog). Those games had extremely tight and responsive controls!
