The game is up at their store , however the disk space in requirements is iffy: 330 mb for a game that originally came on 2 CDs, each with ~300 mb of data. Did the extra FMVs get cut, or is the compression that good? Asking at GoG since DE forums are empty-ish.

I do not know this game nor own it but is requirement = size of download? If not, maybe you have some installation size options and 300MB is the minimal one?

I have no earthly clue. Their freebie Tyrian (not 2000) lists 4MB as required space, the download is 7.3 MB and the installed game is 13.8 MB.
They probably just compressed the videos and sounds. Or the CDs had duplicated files for some reason.

Good game btw. It's a shame you couldn't buy or build your own factories, just a hangar. The X universe is very akin to this game, for everybody that's curious.
I don't know if this is the case, but it might have been that the music was Red Book audio. Now it's MP3s
I can't believe that in the current state of the code (no one knows who owns the rights) they could just re-encode 500 MB worth of cutscenes and about the same volume of redbook audio. Also, the movieless and musicless rips of the game are only 50 MB, so obviously they didn't cut everything out either. What gives? It's a $6 question for them...

Well, yeah. You could just ask them. Apparently their support isn't too bad. So they might be able to help. Red Book is easily recoded if they were able to get hold of the CD version of the game. Videos probably not much more difficult (although the soiundtrack alone will account for most of that reduction).
I own the game but haven't played it yet, I tried installing the game, the installer is 313MB, 377MB once installed.

I tried to launch the game and there is a FMV intro but I don't know if there any other as the game crashes every time right after when it tries to generate the world

I don't know if the game is supposed to Windows 7 compatible, I tried various compatibility mode but to no avail.

EDIT : Actually after choosing a different resolution (1920x1080 instead of 1920x1200) the game manage to start.

I bought it and found there is no music possibly due to copyright or license issue which is a shame as a loved the music from it. Still a great game without the music but if gog has the game with music eventually then i will buy it again from here.

I bought a couple of games from dot emu and to be honest not impressed with them hardwar without the music and slipstream which i cant get any sound at all.
I didn't buy anything so far and I'm not impressed either. Their Warzone 2100 comes with low-res version of sequences.wz, the cutscene archive. 170 MB vs the standard 550 MB available at the remake website... Is the extra bandwidth so expensive?

It's Win 7 compatible. You'll want to patch it, though, for max stability to graphics enhancements -- especially on a wide-screen monitor.

The 2nd game CD for Hardwar is just a regular music CD. You could play it in a CD player. It's completely not needed. The standar music is far better. I wouldn't bother including it if I were digitally distributing it.

The game has several FMV sequences throughout. At that install size, they're sure to be there (and they'd have to be -- they're critical to the plot).
btw, I just checked dotemu's site. It gave the worst screenshots and a terrible description filled with spelling errors and not really describing the whole game.

Yet another disappointing sales attempt for this stellar game.

Weird. I've seen a release with both CDs split 50/50 between data and audio, each containing some movies and a few music tracks.
Yep, now I'm one with DotEmu Hardwar and sure as hell all the cutscenes from CD 2 are not in their package. That's the outro, for example. They did put a CD1 music-less rip of a 2CD game in the store. Now I'm gonna bug their support until they drop.
Good news is, the unofficial patch is included.

Thanks for the warning, I was thinking of picking that up. :(

Please let us know if they ever fix it.
Hello,

Thank you for your purchase.
We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and the delay, Hardwar (version 1.1) has the full story available.

Best regards,
Vincent from DotEmu.
Downloading now. File size seems more right than before. 649 MB.
