Snickersnack: Which version? I'm pretty sure I saw my brother do it on all 3 stages of the final boss on the SNES version (I hate him ;). I can do it on the first 2.

Orryyrro: SNES version. Sigma's final form can only be damaged by fully charged buster or the Rolling Shield, he is immune to the hadouken. MMKB verifies, towards the bottom of the first bullet in the linked section.
Interesting, I'll ask my brother about that. Maybe we get a video if the wiki is inaccurate.

I find this memorable because I in fact told my brother that it was impossible and he did it right in front of me. I used to show off my mad video gaming skillz (lol) with Megaman X so it was rather humiliating.

Perhaps my memory is faulty.

Snickersnack: BTW, does anyone know if the PC port of Megaman X is any good? I think it was a DOS game.
It was actually the first version of the game that I played, since I never had an SNES (I was a Sega advocate). The Hadouken is still there, but the only difference I could find was the lack of any Ride Armor in Chill Penguin's stage. You can still get the energy container there (hidden in one of the igloos) with the flame weapon. The final Sigma form's immunity to everything except Rolling Shield and charged buster remains.

I think Mega Man X3 was also ported to PC, and had the animated FMVs.

Wasn't there a "v1.1" version of MMX? Or was that a romhack?

Wow, this looks terrible. Check out the number of dislikes on this video:

I talked to my brother and he agrees with you. Sigma's final form is invulnerable to hadouken. I wonder what the heck I was remembering. Thanks for setting me straight. :)
I love this game; In fact, I was recently turned into popping it back in and beating it for the first time ever by Egoraptor and his wonderful Sequelitis...sequel...video. I can say it made me happy, going back through all those old stages and finally smashing Sigma in his stupid robot eyes.

Now if I could just beat Mega Man X4 finally...
Megaman X is a fantastic game but the iOS version is terrible

play the Original game, or better yet, play the Maverick Hunter X remake on PSP
I liked it when I was a kid playing SNES games. I remember not liking the second one though.

Really? I thought the second did everything the first did and more: better graphics, better music, more optional bosses, 2 endings, and cooler power-ups.
The third one wasn't as good for me.
Played the PSP remake and it was fantastic! I always loved the Mega Man platformers. They're difficult, but possible and rewarding. Trying out the new weapons is exciting, and the music is fantastic. I seem to have a bad habit of just getting all the weapons, and then never bothering to finish the final levels. Not because they're hard, but because the game becomes a bit more repetitive at that point, and you have all the weapons, so there's not much more to look forward to. I did finish Mega Man 2, though.

As for the iOS remake, well, the controls are already a flaw, but why is the frame-rate and presentation so awful? I mean, the text is hilariously generic, the text boxes are just black squares, and the fact that it has to load each individual part of the level is pathetic. Also, downloadable content for a SNES game? Really?

I don't want to hate on it too much, since it's still Mega Man X, but that's pretty lazy.

Really? Because I thought that the series got only better as it progressed

Oh sure, the story was butchered at X6 but the only "Bad" game in the series was X7

Even X8 on the PS2 was very cool

I don't remember enough about them to make a quality statement, I only said I didn't like the second one. That could easily be because I grew out of that type of game by that point.
