Smannesman: ... (and I have money).
you and me both...
oftewel, ek nes jy ;)
I was put off buying it when I first saw it because I heard the pc version was a mess at release. I have played it since and enjoyed it, I didn't run into any bugs.

tYyPpI: As for the dvd drive: try updating the firmware, helped a lot for me (wasn't a Sony Vaio, just a general dvd drive, but it might help).

s23021536: Cool I'll give that a go, but hearing the way the drive skips I'm pretty sure dust is at least part of the problem.

tinyE: I found it on sale with SecuRom so it looks like I'm going to have to wait a while before I can play it.

s23021536: I still remember my first encounter with securom. Wasn't pretty - messed my pc up something fierce
If the drive is skipping and not reading... well, only a few days ago I tried to install World in Conflict, both the original game disc and the Soviet Assault expansion bundled disc and both seemed unreadable. Just skip, skip, skip until the computer just decided there was no disc in the drive.

I had to open and close the tray about 30 times before it managed to read enough data to determine there actually was something in the DVD-drive. It then took about 4 hours to install the game and the drive was making these ticking noises the whole time.

Exactly what mine is doing.
Lol well since I don't have anything better to do (I do actually but I don't feel like it) I'm going to give that a go.
Also : World in Conflict rocks!
