I can't seem to get Credit Union debit cards to work on GOG anymore. Between two family members and me, we have tried three cards to no avail.

I've already sent a message to customer support, but I wanted to hear what the community has to say in the meantime.

Edit: Aside Does any kind individual want to spot me $3 now on PayPal for $6 worth of games later (Oct. 1 or later)? PM me, please

I rarely use my CU's card online. I feel much better using my credit card for such. That said, I used mine a few weeks ago here without problem. Could it be problem with your specific bank?

If you could use your card to buy directly from GOG in the past, shouldn't it be accepted via PayPal as well? Have you tried doing that?

Certain banks automatically refuse foreign transactions, or refuse transactions to certain countries. GOG is incorporated in Cyprus, which sets off certain bank flags because apparently it's a big scamming center or something. None of the money ever actually goes through Cyprus, though. So it's probably your CU being stingy, you'd be better off talking to them, since it's almost certainly an issue on their end rather than GOG's.

Personally, I have a debit card from one CU and a credit card from a different CU and they both work here. If you call your CU and tell them the business is legit, they may authorize the charges.

One of the cards belongs to a CU in another state, so it's probably got nothing to do with a particular CU.

As for paying by proxy through PayPal, I've tried that. But, as GOG explains on the error page, "If you use your credit card through PayPal, the problem should be present as well, as though you used the card directly on our site."

I've used a CU debit card on GOG for over a year with no issue. When three CU cards from two different CUs didn't work, I figured CUs nationwide had implemented some policy that ended up blocking all GOG transactions for everyone. I'm surprised to hear the opposite.

Talking to my CU is probably what I will end up doing.

I tried using my credit union card a few times and it just won't work. My bank card, no problem. Most likely because it's a foreign country, and credit unions seem to have a problem with that.

Yeah. The strange thing is it used to work, but now three cards (from two CUs) just won't.

Odd. Maybe they changed some of their regulations? So yeah, I'd talk to them to see what's up; if you explain it they should then let you use it, unless they have strict regulations.
