xxxIndyxxx: EDIT: i guess that's using humble widget, my bad ;)

xxspe: Yes! Humble Widget is where we get more profits but Steam seems to be where more people are buying. Some dev' ask to buy through Humble Widget as we get more money some other ask to buy from Steam as it makes them climb on the top sellers...
Okay , so I guess you prefer humble widget then? Or Do you want as much steam sales as possible early on so you stay a bit in the topsellers page?
EDIT: i am talkin with the assumption you will handle fair pricing on steam, so no 10$=10€, otherwise steam is certainly not the way to go for me.

amok: Not 1 or 5. To me that looks like frustrating platformer ala Meatboy, and I no longer have the dexterity for it, nor the patience for the frustration. I skip those type of games these days.
Well, doesn't seem Ethan is for you then : ( but keep an eye out for our next game!

Buy it twice! :D just kidding, do whatever you feel best :)

xxspe: Update! Same idea, Which one would make you click if on homepage of Steam ?

I would say #3. You can immediately see meteors here, just like you present them in game (greenish glow). In other pictures you can easily confuse them with common rocks. (I suppose in #1 they are just common rocks;)
I would take #3. You can clearly see meteors and the used colour palette is the nicest one of all the pictures.
I like the surreal nature of #4.
Thanks everybody!
Hey guys :)

Final Steam logo for Ethan, hope you like it!

Interesting ;-) Looks great and good luck!!

(I had just typed up some notes!
I love the “brightness and color around the moon” as well as the font choice on #5. However, I think the meteor in #2 would make #5 really pop – just the big one and not the little side ones though. I also think the base from #1 is better than the base from #5.
So in sum that is #5 with the base from #1 and the meteor from # 2….Not sure if you can move the elements around but those changes might make for a truly strong visual… but if not then #5, #2, then #1.)

xxspe, I got Ethan on GOG and had a real blast with your game! Loved the steam logo btw
For me it's one of the best indie titles of the past year, no shit, I mean really.
Controller support was and still is a big deal too
I discovered EMH on the recently deceased "this week on GOG" and it was love at first sight.
I'm happy to be one of those 127 initial lucky bastards who had the chance to play it. Unfortunately due to parenting reasons I didn't finish it, but I will soon, I hope.

Thanks and keep making cool to play games like Ethan!

ps: also got it on Greenmangaming for some gifting (who knows), couldn't resist :)

Necroing this thread...

One year later, here's a new post-mortem over one year-sales which was more successful tha the launching. Most of the units sold were from bundles and sales but they're are a lot of other statistics to digest, complete artice here:

Ethan was a hard game. Not “difficult” (well a bit), but hard to get into it. From our Steam leaderboards, we discovered that out of all people who finished the tutorial, half of them stopped playing after the third level. We lost 50% of our players after only 3 levels out of 50! Only 7% did start the second world (out of 3), which means that 93% of people who started the game only played one third of it. And finally, only 0,95% actually finished it… Congrats :)

So yeah, losing half of your players who actually started it is not what you want. Not to mention only 16% of people who own Ethan on Steam actually finished the tutorial…
