My fav acronym is SHIELD. I don't remember what it stands for but it is something not catchy, and Agent Coulson explained it by saying "It means somebody really wanted it to be abbreviated with those letters." (Well, he said something like that.)

Dzsono: I always liked G.O.G.A.G. - Good Old Games Assassins Guild. I can't remember which GOGlodyte made it up, nor the circumstances in which it was conceived, but I like it any way :)

Not sure whether its inception was in this other thread (check from this post to this one), but it's the oldest iteration I've been able to track.
