Good timing - no more worrying if Secret Santa will buy something you can't pass on yourself during the inevitable Christmas Sale.

zeffyr: Little question - does it work with games bought before indroducing refunds?
Notice the NOTICE (hurr) at the end of the announcement.

ZPavelZ: But wouldn't that make scamming possible? E.g. as in person A buys a gift, trades it for something with person B and then applies for a refund? (This person could also make such actions from multiple new accounts with new dynamic IPs).

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic about this new service addition, I just think it needs a little bit more polish.

TheEnigmaticT: Person "A" buys a gift and presents it to person "B". Person "B" (the guy who got the gift) needs to be the one asking for the refund. If the game doesn't work on his system--and our Support guys can't help--then person "A" gets back the money for the gift.

Scamming that doesn't seem very plausible to me?
Oh sorry, but I was talking about something else.
I was wondering whether this
"There's even more! If you bought a game by mistake, or simply changed your mind about a purchase, you can get a full refund within 14 days, as long as the game wasn't downloaded. If in any doubt about our refund policies, please consult our FAQ. "
applies to games purchased for one's own account only or also for gifts. Hence my speculations about scamming possibilities. I was not talking about 30-day "technical issue" refund at all. ToU/FAQ say nothing on the matter of "you can get a full refund within 14 days" for gifts, though.
I wonder if you can buy W2 on Steam and then redeem it on GOG and ask for a refund.
Nothing really new or ground-breaking for me to say here, but I did want to publicly pronounce my gratitude for GOG for not only providing awesome games, but for continuing to improve their already awesome service. You've further cemented me as a life-time customer.
Sexy.
I like the second bit, but I hope you guys have some safety measures in place for the first bit to help protect you from fraud. Their "no-hassles' return policy really helped to kill Circuit City, you know.
I don't use a supported system so I can benefit from it.
Still, that's a very nice touch, good move GOG!

I assume it'd be treated as you activating a gift, so a refund would go back to the person that gifted it, in this case no-one, so there's nothing to refund. Well, either no-one or the gifter is strictly speaking GOG, so it goes back to them :p

Ie, really unlikely it'll work.

I guess you have to buy it on GoG otherwise I could redeem my copy of Witcher 1 and then ask for a refund and still have my copy of Witcher 1 and there is no way for GoG to stop this unless they don´t allow it in the first place.
Now THATS awesome!

The only thing i need now is some classics like Flying Heroes or Future Cop and an option, to marry GOG.COM. Hope thats comming soon!
It's been a year, and I'm still having a freeze issue with Silent Storm Sentinels...
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/problem_with_silent_storm_sentinels
&
http://www.gog.com/forum/silent_storm/freezing_on_a_certain_mission_sentinels_spoilers (apparently another person has since encountered the same problem)
I'd much prefer a solution that works, rather than a refund though... Apparently it was a universal bug (http://ds.nordicgames.at/silentstorm/sentinels/readme_patch_1.1.txt : "Fixed game crash during the cut-scene on the «Treachery» mission zone"), but the GOG version seems to be incompatible with any other patch files. Has anyone else experienced the freeze on the GOG version since the initial post?

edit: And oh, I got my copy via a trade so I guess that would even make me ineligible for any refunds.

Thanks GOG for great customer service!
Fot any potential scammers: remember, it's not worth it - GOG's Santa is watching! :)

Novotnus: Non-working GOG game never happened to me and I have over 300 of those :) Sure, some required to mess a little with the setup but other than that...
But they exist (usually for very short amount of time after release) :D
e.g.: http://www.gog.com/forum/speedball_2_hd/speedball2exe_has_stopped_working

Devs are aware of the problem, and the patch is on the way, but it is just tested on Steam customers at first :D

Way to go GOG! I haven't seen any other site offering refund policy on games you changed your mind on. This is really great.
