Yes, Amiga re-launch.

What I'm wondering is... what's the point? What do they want to achieve? Is this just a new toy for few remaining enthusiasts or is it something more?
Shouldn't that be re-re-re-re-re-re-re-launch? ;)
The price and backward compatibility may make this one a neat opportunity to get [back] into the Ami. Too bad the news about those two details have not been revealed. Anyhow, even if it fails, i'd be cool to have one at home. In 20 years, it'll make a nice story for the grand children. Let's hope they make a better job than with those silly C64 revivals.;)
It has nothing in common with the classic Amiga, not directly as in hardware or companies involved. Nor indirectly as what the Amiga was to it users back then - great hardware at an affordable price with great games and a big community programming for it.
All thats remotely interesting is the efficient OS, but even thats too much of a compromise nowadays as it lacks standard features now common in an attempt of higher compatibility with old software(-sources).
Id happily buy a new "classic" Amiga which added compatibility to USB, Sata,LAN incase my 2 originals cease to work one day.
Id happily buy a new "modern" Amiga if it where something like a PS3 with its games and an lightweight, unrestricted OS added.
The thing above - I wont touch it.
If they were to price this below low-end PC's and just above NetPC's then I could see a market for it.
This is one of those things I could just see myself buying for the fun of it. Unfortunately I doubt it will be very useful (due to lack of software support), but I'd love to be proven wrong.
IF this was a computer that was compatible with old Amiga games ...
IF this was a computer with mid-range specs which makes the end price below €500
IF this was a computer which might interest indie developers ...
IF this had a retro vibe ...
I might have been interested ...
So... some dead things never dies for good :-P
And I never thought I'd see another AmigaOne after Eyetech collapsed.
Anyway, for me to be interested, it has to run classic Amiga software nigh-perfectly and be affordable-otherwise, I might as well continue to use WinUAE like I always have.
(I've always wanted to try out AmigaOS 4.x, though. Word is that the multi-tasking leaves everything else in the dust, even on slower hardware.)
