Is the GOG downloader faster than steam?
I was downloading The Witcher 2 and it seems to go faster than most downloads on steam.

EDIT: Thanks for the replies!

Well Steam would be faster but probably has far more 'baggage' resulting in it being slower.

In my own case - yes.
Not sure if it's faster but I get constant speed with GOG downloader.
No. But it might be the influence of which region you're downloading from on Steam, and how busy it is.
Why can't it be both? You're crazy and the GOG downloader is faster.
Also are you sure you wouldn't have accidentally capped the Steam downloads when ya set it up? I do it all the time because the mothertrucker will not stop chewing up my bandwidth to download pointless bloody updates. Another reason to love GOG.
Yes. Steam has improved its download speed from pretty horrible to solid over years but GOG Downloader is still faster.
I would take a guess here and assume Steam has larger (and faster) servers but those servers are also used much more frequently than GOGs. Anyway, in general I maximize the speed at GOG almost every time, but at Steam it fluctuates much more especially during sales.
I really maximize my download speed at work from GOG. Steam and the multi-file games at GOG however are blocked.
Well, the 2MB .exe I can download, but all the.bin are blocked.

I really wish there was an option on GOG to download a zip of the multi-file games.
