I've been thinking about this for some time.have I done anything good for the people here or am I a chore?
I mean,my last giveaway was in december for a game that I got for free in the winter promo(WIz8) and after that nothing and now I kinda realized this.I beg a lot and rarely give something back or help anyone.I need to apologize for it.
TL;DR:I apologize if I'm not a good member here.

I ask mostly because these thoughts popped in my head and are not letting them go:"am I a good person,have I been a good influence on people,have I do anything to help someone?".I know it's something personal and I don't need to bring up here but I have to come clean with you all.

I for one love having you here but then I love to post pictures of mice committing necrophilia, and no that isn't a smart ass post, I'm being honest here. Most of the people in here I adore the most are the ones that can offend just as quickly as they can charm which you can take as a compliment or a slam. I assure you, I mean it as a compliment. My brother never pisses off or aggravates anyone and while I love him.....HE'S BORING! Sure you could always tone certain things down and no one would ever bitch, but you'd also be putting a large number of us to sleep. :P Please don't do that! :D

Don't beg unless you absolutely need to (no, games don't count). It's unbecoming.

And don't wallow in self-pity either. That's unbecoming as well. If you wronged someone, apologize and make amend if possible, try to correct the behavior that caused the wrong in the future and then move on.

Beyond this, I see this as a place to get games and exchange ideas, not an institution. Don't be too hard on yourself.

This amazing community is not all about "free" games. The other day I spent several hours helping another member figure out if they could afford to buy a house - when they said to me "You might just have changed my life (for the better)", that right there was better than any thanks I've gotten from giving a gift (though I have to admit, I do love an enthusiastic thank-you ;-p).

So are you a good community member? I don't really know since I think that a person's sense of what constitutes "good" is extremely personal.

What I do know is that generosity of spirit can be highly contagious but the opposite is also true. Lately, the forum feels filled with greed and sniping and sarcasm instead of fun, generosity and just plain old "Hail fellow, well-met". Part of this down-turn is due to a lot of de-repping, a few greedy people entering every single giveaway and quite a bit of public pillorying instead of taking gripes to PM's. And while I agree that certain members refuse to change how they're behaving and possibly need to be publicly spoken to (after numerous PM's asking them to change clearly haven't worked), nasty name-calling still isn't the way.

Anyway, I think you probably know exactly what "good community member" means to you - and if you don't feel like you're living up to your own personal standard, then well you can do one of two things ;-)

You're a bit disappointed that this isn't a giveaway, aren't you ;-P Each and everyone of us is doing something wrong from time to time, here and in real life. The important thing is to question oneself instead of wallowing in narcissism, thus you're on a good way.

I'd say that the mere fact you think the value of a member is directly linked to the amount of games it gives speaks against you, I fear.
