I finally got around to buying it on sale from Steam. Are there any fan fixes that clear up any glaring issues that the Devs left out? I don't want added content or superweapons or god armor or whatever, just graphic and sound tweaks, code fixes to common crash issues, etc.

You know, I had no issues with the game. No crashes, no nothing. I was surprised to see that people complained about problems with the game.

That said, there is one official patch, which raises the version to 1.10...

The Steam version received the same fixes that were included in the final retail patch.

Other than that, no clue.

There are few bugs and their workarounds listed, but it's spoilerish, to say the least :)

The people who complained were spoiled toddlers who nitpicked about bars and railings not being fully rendered in true HD or some shit like that, and even when so far as to post comparative screencaps with closeups and the like. These jokers are of the same ilk as those who complained about KOTOR 2, which I found enjoyable, broken quests aside. Every RPG has broken quests and red herrings, it can't be helped.

only thing i had was a weird mousebug, wich caused the camera to make a quarter turn every odd ten seconds, it's nothing gamebreaking but i'd like to get it fixed before i start my second playthrogh.

other than that the game was quite amazing, especially the characters and their interactions.

I'd heartily recommend getting an xbox360 gamepad to play with. The game was definitely designed with a gamepad in mind.

As for bugs, I encountered one in my entire playthrough, where a few enemies spawned on top of me after a quick-load.

Generally I found it very enjoyable, and was baffled by all the criticism of it. I'd pre-ordered it through GamersGate too, so I had the release version. I've played loads of buggier games than AP. Of course, everyones experience is likely to be different.

I didn't have any bugs or issues in the entire game. Played fine with a mouse and keyboard as well. Great game.

It's third-person, so I could go either way as far as X360 pad or mouse and keyboard. Vintage console ports and Licensed "with a capital L" emulation packages (like Amiga Forever) I play almost exclusively with a pad or Competition Pro joystick (for oldschool "one button for Fire is all you need" games), same for platformers (unless they're they're like Abuse, and require one hand on the keyboard for movement and one on the mouse for aiming). First person games are mouse and keyboard, unless they're console-only, then I've no choice.

Made the game a lot more playable for me.

Really wish developers using the Unreal engine would implement these tweaks themselves -- it takes ten seconds and makes the games feel much less like awful ports.

I fucking love the game but I didn't have any bugs - unless you count a shitty engine to be a game bug.

It is a good game, probably not for a run and gunner though. I did encounter a few bugs but nothing game stopping for me. The one I entered a building and died, when reloading check point then entering the building the guards where gone. I just went and restarted the whole mission because I thought it was a bit lame way to complete the mission. Another time I got stuck in the environment and couldn't move. That time I reloaded from a check point and guards where there even know I killed them before getting stuck.

Unreal is great if used properly. See Mass Effect 2, Mirror's Edge, etc.

I bought this at release and encountered no bugs that I could see. There was a concerted 'fan' backlash over the game and they grossly exaggerated the flaws. Seems to be something about the Obsidian name that drives people to over-exaggerate every little bug because Obsidian make buggy games derp.

New Vegas had the same reception with people calling it unplayable which was a complete lie. People seem to have a mental block that makes them forget the very unplayable state Fallout 3 shipped in. In most respects Obsidian improved a lot of the problems with the Gamebryo engine that plagued Fallout 3.

Yeah, me too. I did not encounter any problematic bugs in the game.

I had the "mouse goes crazy when loading environment" bug which was corrected by tweaking the ini files. Also, once I quickloaded and found no enemies in the level. After that, anytime I wanted to quickload, I exited to the menu and loaded the latest checkpoint without having the problem again.

No crashes during my game and I must say that it was one of the best games of 2010 I played (even though I played it in 2011).
