The price of 19 great games from Strategy First is cut in half this weekend. What more do you need?

This weekend only, all Strategy First games receive a 50%-price-slash treatment and that includes the likes of one of the most acclaimed turn-based strategies [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/jagged_alliance_2]Jagged Alliance 2, the Diablo-esque action RPG Sacred Gold or Disciples 2 Gold, which is an eerie mix of fantasy RPG and battle strategy.

Ghost Master will surely deliver a few laughs when you’ll try to frighten the mortals out of town in this hilarious tactical and adventure game.

Medieval-based Patrician 3 and Port Royale 2 require a more managerial and economical approach. 50% off on those games is definitely cost-effective.

If you’re in need of a quick adrenaline rush, grab and smash someone to pieces or turn your PC into old-school game arcade with Pro Pinball games: <a href="[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/pro_pinball_big_race_usa]http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/pro_pinball_big_race_usa" >Big Race USA, Timeshock orFantastic Journey.

For the full listing of all games including flying-high Apache vs. Havoc and Comanche vs. Hokum,
you should visit the promo page.
Can somebody please talk me out of buying Patrician 3?

I'm bloody awful at 'serious' sims and I'll probably just waste hours in free play and never touch the campaign, but I'm still sorely tempted!
I've already bought the games that I want. the JA series and Ghostmaster. Especially JA2 and Ghostmaster are top games.
It is a good varied promo though, in spite of the name, Strategy first is not *all* about strategy.
I bought Pro Pinball Timeshock. Since it is the DOS version, it will run like a charm on my Linux box.
I logged on this morning intended to pick up Deus Ex and maybe one other game.

I came out of this sale with all three JA games and both Disciples. Curses.

I would complain more about GOG's money-grabbing ways and their horribly tempting sales, but I see my mercs need some help clearing out the jungle so I've got to go....

the_bard: Which helicopter sim is the better of the two? Or should I get both?

grviper: Comanche Hokum has a huge upgrade package available. http://www.eechcentral.com/
In the cart. Thanks

Same here. Logged in with expectation of getting Deus Ex and playing some this weekend... and now I'm sitting here loading up my cart with games from this promo. Yeah buddy

I'm probably one of the worst people to talk you out of buying it (because I really like that game, so I can't really talk anyone out of buying it), yet I felt tempted to reply to you because the campaign isn't worth looking at - it's basically free play with some pathetic time restrictions. (I mean, seriously, I've only bothered with it once, and even then I got fed up with the time limits. If you don't build/trade/hunt for pirates like a machine you've got no chance to finish the missions on time.)

But if you're not good at "serious sims" at all, you might not completely enjoy it, as it is indeed one of them, a highly dynamic business simulation.
However, if you still decide to grab it, you could just read up on some hints and tips I gave to a fellow new player in this thread to get you started/if you get stuck.

cymrean: Come on, at least 60%. ;) 50% was on christmas.
Stop complaining, it's a dollar here or there. It's not like GOG has to have promotions or anything.

wizall: Does anyone have any experience with Strategic Command? I'd like a good strat war game.
avatar
DrIstvaan: I have some experience with it - it's a (very) grand turn based strategy game, with the emphasis on high-scale war. It's nearly 100% gameplay over graphics, and as a war game, it's indeed very well-made, but you have to have a certain mindset in order to really enjoy this game. For example, I generally like such games, but even I only played for a short time before quitting it (although it must be said that I wasn't so much put off by its complexity as by the time it takes to take a single turn). However, I guess if you're used to board wargames (or their computer equivalents), you'll like it.
Thanks for that. Hmmm, I'm torn. I'll make the call at the 11th hour, like usual.

In plain and simple terms:
Strategic Command is a table-top war game of the classic sort (massive grid representing the 'world' (multi-country/continental battlefield), little cardboard tokens representing units), in video game form.

It's good, for that. If you don't enjoy a slow game of tactical planning and execution, without any form of action what-so-ever.. you'll want to pass on it.
If you want something that makes Chess seem like Starcraft, you can't go wrong.
I'd get Sacred if it worked for Win 7 :P

I may pick up Disciples though

sacred works. might want to turn off movies , got a black screen otherwise.
but you probably can fix that with some codecs.
And today's new release is... Ignition! Yup! And my dreams come true!
Got Comanche vs Hokum. Thanks GOG.
