Quoted from IGN:
UK, January 15, 2010 - Rebellion is releasing the original 1999 version of Aliens vs. Predator in the run-up to its new game of the same name, with the 11 year old game coming to Steam at a budget price.
Initially the game will ship with the single-player mode only with a free patch that enables multiplayer following soon after. Rebellion's CEO Jason Kingsley said that Aliens vs. Predator's budget price will reflect this, telling IGN "It'll be very cheap – and it shows it's age a little bit, but it is frightening and it is difficult. We will in due course fix up the multiplayer – and we'll make sure it's a free download."
There are currently no plans to bring the game to Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network although this could change soon.

Please tell me it'll come to GOG, too... (

Interesting. I wonder if it needs anything added to work in Vista? I have AvP2 and it's expansion. They both work fine in XP and Vista for me. If it comes to GOG, I'll buy it!
It came to Steam already and I am buying it. Awesome.

the alien campaign in the original is fun... wall crawling, biting heads, the whole works. The marine campaign, when I played it then (I was I thinkin junior high), was scary as hell, so I never beat it all the way. wussed out.
b-b-b-b-b-bought it
Yep, seems to be fully patched. Everything works including CD-Audio!
Purchased.
I hope it isn't the Gold edition. The rerecorded video were worse than the original recordings (Marine campaign)
Multiplayer will be awesome with this.

I too hope for a GOG version, but this is very cool nonetheless. It's a Hell of a shooter.
if it comes out on GOG, I'll buy it here too.
I'd definitely get it on GOG. And it should be coming here by any reasonable logic. Steam, however, doesn't have such a good reputation when it comes to classic games, *coughLucasartscough*
I doubt it will appear on GOG because if it did it would be substantially more expensive. I probably would still buy it though for the GOG extras.
Well, it is the Gold edition, but I'm not one to complain for only $5.
I found the pistol lying on the ground in the second level. Is there any real point to using it? It seems useless compared to the pulse rifle or smart gun.

It is, its just a backup incase you run out of ammo then the pistols a little better then a knife.
Nifty. I might buy this if I ever get in the mood. I loved AvP2, but never played the original.
Hopefully they'll consider a boxed version too.
