Niggles: Havent read anywhere that said hey touched anything except reskin the graphics on AoEII ?... i dont think they touched the gameplay or mechanics at all.
I believe "The Forgotten" expansion overhauled AI.

Wasn't that expansion a tweaked community mod, too? I'm thinking it had something to do with it...

Yep, it's a fan-made expansion that became an official expansion. But when it was released their was some noise that with it they had also overhauled AI.
Edit: Nevermind, I did a little searching for it. The details for that info probably weren't ever released to the public.

New AI
AoF will incorporate smarter, advanced AI designed to give even the best players a challenge. Designed to adapt to changing units and situations like real players, you’ll actually be able to learn effective strategies for PVP from the computer. Advanced control also allow unprecedented human / AI collaboration and teamwork for more exciting scenarios than ever before.

I loved that game+addon so much back then... unfortunatly I lost my cd a long time ago...

It is a pitty that it will only be avalible with that steam crap :(
Most of the AOM DVD cheap reeditions don't work with Windows 7 or 8 and The Titans expansion doesn't work for UbiSoft reedition because of a bug. So this Steam edition is a good thing to (re)discover this game, even if I think it's a bit expensive for too few new stuffs.
I may pick it up for nostalgia reasons when it goes 75% off but i really to not think it is worth the £18.40 price tag.

Looks like its just another attempt to make a quick buck after the limited success of previous re-releases.
A fan of this game, top ten of all time for me. Really enjoy both campaing and multiplayer, offers more tactic diversity and possibilities to wrap strategies than AoE2. but at this price and with that crap graph overhaul I´m getting it only when at least 50%.
So who is playing it? What's your take on this extended edition?
I'll get it when it comes to GOG.

Pretty much. Got boxed set doesn't matter, doubt it still works though.
Am I the only one who thinks that tweeking AoM might be like tweeking Thief or Tomb Raider 2? Some games despite their age really don't need overhauls.
