Niggles: This is disappointing news. Game should be here. Not on Steam.
Did they say it wasn't coming here?

And either way, games should be in as many places as possible, not one or the other.

I hope they don't screw with the specs, I worship this game.

It should be here because its an old classic and it shouldn't be a drmed steam exclusive like AOE3 or AOE2HD

They reskinned AOE2 and didnt do anything else with it. People are saying it wasnt worth the price.

Well, DRM is an "Industry Standard" so it's probably just a matter of time before it comes here, right? ;)

Besides, if Good Old Games had put classics before other things, it probably would be here. Instead it's now "GOG", and it's no-DRM before classics, so in cases like the above, that means some won't be here. Sacrifices have to be made to hold on to a certain stance, and no-DRM is the one they decided to hold on to.

It was definitely worth the price to me and I will be buying this day one. Awesome game and I can't wait to play again.
The only change I want relative to the original release is the possibility of disabling the Titan (aka a option for not use it in a match) in skirmish/MP, like in C&C is possible to disable the super-weapons
Fortunately the original AOM Gold is DRM-free. So I'll play that instead, if I ever get the urge to replay it for yet another time. Naturally it makes it easier decision that I am only interested in single-player anyway.

Ps. Wasn't there also a free (second) expansion pack for this game too? Some kind of mini-campaign, I think related to the Norse? Or then I am thinking of some other RTS game, but I think it was for AOM.

EDIT: Yeah, it was called "Golden Gift":

Age of Mythology is already "HD" btw, it's a 3D game after all, I believe you can use a trick with the shortcut to launch the game in whatever resolution you like.

The game just reeks atmosphere though, the ambient sounds, the music, unit voices in their own languages, the encyclopedia, a beautiful game overall.

But they did they removed LAN and reduced performance significantly by changing the renderer, ok maybe I'm a little unfair because I played AOE2 on a P133 but still I disabree they didnt do "anything" with it.

Yep shortcut works just fine, although I believe the HUD is stretched but its fine as long as you don't want to use eyefinity to get really stretched resolutions. Eyefinity doesn't seem to make sense with an rts anyway just too much to look at.

I spent 2 years playing Age of Empires 2 and its exppack. But I couldn't really get into AOM. That said it would be nice to see AOE2 and AOM on GOG. Hopefully Rise of Nations as well.
the only age of empires i kinda was disappointed with was age of empires 3 , even the mmo was good anyone whos not played the mmo give it a go before it shuts down permanently within 2-3 months for good
