Free-to-play model with GfWL integration .
Microsoft-connected studio, so GfWL should be nicely done. One thing bothers me though, the damn service's marketplace and some other features are not available worldwide.

That art style reminds me much more of settlers than AoE.

Not listed. :(
It looks more like Age of Cartoons to me. As a proud owner of first game, I must say that I fell sick just looking at those screenshots.
Quote from FAQ:
"The “Age” franchise has an incredibly loyal fan base. Do you think this new iteration will alienate any of your fans?
Absolutely not. Age of Empires Online stays true to its roots with traditional RTS gameplay, a deep player-versus-player mode and detailed historical settings. From the creation of your capital city, to resource management and competitive matches, Age of Empires fans will feel right at home."
At least one is alienated.

Looks kind of awesome! All signed up. I don't mind the cartoonish art-style as much as some people do.

Anyone tried e-mailing MS with a suggestion they bring AoE 1+2 here to gog?

Not gonna happen. Have you seen a MS published game anywhere besides on GfWL?
While I'm not too impressed by the graphics, this is an interesting development; first Fable III is confirmed for the PC, and now we get this?

They also re-released Age of Empires III Complete on Gfwl. They love PC now. About time.
it's so... social
i'm really going to have to reserve judgement on this one until I see how it all comes together
It could be so much better, having parts IV and V, but no... we get a casual game with cartoony visuals, instead.
See attachment. :(

I'd love to have them on GOG, but I guess they won't publish it anywhere else digitally, not soon.
And it's been like what? Just two or three months ago that MS woke up and released AoE3 digitally, but it is exclusive to the GFWL store.

Hmm and where's Alan Wake for PC?

^ that pic is not gonna happen. Well, at least not now. Ensemble Studios was dismissed so... Maybe after the whole AoE Online stuff.
