The Dig is very solid. It is full of logical puzzles, an astonishing soundtrack, and of course the manuscript written by Steven Spielberg. It is one of few early days adventure games with complex character development, and touching scenes. It is also pretty long. It is not my favorite LucasArts game (that's Grim Fandango for sure) but is a close shared #2nd place.

Might as well add that you can buy the entire Lucas Arts Adventure Pack for $6 - the price of two of those games. That's 3 awesome adventures (Dig, Loom, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis) and one OK one (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.)

Or you could just wait till the last day, to make sure the pack won't be 75% off on a daily sale.
