I'll honestly never understand people who get like this. Sure I can somtimes get annoyed that a game has like 300 points for getting 100% on the single player game (yes that means YOU Rainbow Six Vegas!) and leaves the rest for tedious multiplayer grinding but I just write it off as a shitty game and play something fun instead.

She's not a gamer, she's what I would call a video game freak.
tl;dr
how did they string an article of that length from such a boring subject?
Anyway I can't help but think what she might accomplish if she put that sort of dedication into something actually worthwhile..... or at least fun.
OCD can be an ugly, ugly thing. If this woman doesn't pull herself out of this soon I hope her husband has enough sense to intervene.
and sometimes I feel like I'm an achievement whore when I just aim to get achievements..

Weclock: and sometimes I feel like I'm an achievement whore when I just aim to get achievements..

A broader perspective does wonders eh? Getting all the feathers in assassin's creed 2 doesn't seem so bad in comparison
I have to admit I once played NBA2k7 on the most easy settings possible just so I could get achievement points. I just wanted to get past 2,000 on my gamerscore
I'm a bit of a acheivement whore like her, i like to do every quest & secret possible in games like FF7, Fallout3 ectra... but i enjoy it, and this girl is really just a cheat. For example, when she mentions boosting, boosting is frowned upon in just about every multiplayer game there is... in TMU & TMO boosters Id's get logged & banned from most servers.
IMO her account's should be closed & banned, it ruins the experience for more legit players.
Generally I condemn achievement whores. But with someone of this caliber you can't help but be fascinated. At that level of whoring it becomes its own metagame.
The reason I don't judge what she's doing is because she's purposefully playing the metagame. Her intention is to boost her score as high as she can get it. What I do have a problem is with people who brag about their skills based on their ranking and achievements and have done so through nefarious means.
Also she's a girl who plays videogames and she's cute.
My gamerscore is around 10k and I'm in the "recreation" class.
Almost every single javelin glitcher in MW2, trash talking, generally annoying 8 to 19 year old has around 60k score and is in the "pro" or "Underground" class.
I'd be interested to see how her attitude is.
I don't mind boosting as a means to get the idiotic achievements that some developers make but the majority of boosting is lame
Eh, nothing wrong with being a completionist. I do this in games myself - and if there are achievements, I generally try to get them. They're also generally not that hard to get - although there are cases of design idiocy like "In online deathmatch, kill twenty-three players from Arkansas with the random rare gun on a Sunday evening between 9 and 11".
My WoW character does have about 70% of all achievements done, and I'm not really a hardcore WoW player - clocking in at 10-15 hours a week, and taking frequent 2-3 week breaks. It comes down to planning and researching the best and fastest way to get an achievement. It does mean however that when I am online, I'm ususally working on or towards some achievement or other. You could even say I still play WoW primarily for the achievements and not be far off the truth.
The same goes with Steam game achievements - I try to rack them up as best I can.
Although buying new consoles just to play foreign versions of games that have separate achievement lists is a ... tad on the insane side.

Right. That's what I mean about most players who think they're badass just because they set up servers to take turns headshotting each other.
But this girl does it as a game itself. And as much as it annoys me in the same way that people don't play FPS games with a gamepad using invert, I accept and respect that people have different ways of enjoying different activities. But she should just probably stick to leveling in WoW, it'll be a lot cheaper and still give you that same meaningless satisfaction.
Inverted is stupid. That's right I just went there

While I am a tried and true inverted aim user with a mouse, I cannot do inverted on a gamepad. It feels...wrong. It's about as bad as non-invert on a mouse for me.
