I've dabbled in free games for mobile devices. Nothing really stood out. I'm not counting games that were temporarily discounted to free. I tried to get into rogue-likes (Nethack and such) but failed.

I wouldn't say its my fav, but at the moment I'm putting a lot of time into Path of Exile.
Though I'd probably say I liked Fallout 1 better (it being free years ago is what originally brought GOG to my attention).

Least fav? I'll go with Dead Space 1 PC.
I got it via the EA bundle, before EA made it free on origin...
and playing that game on PC is like trying to walk home drunk with a dog trying to hump your leg the whole way. Nothing about it felt right.
I'm sure the story and atmosphere could be great.. if i could actually get past the wretched controls. (I even tried the disabling vsync in game and forcing it with external tools thing, still felt like rubbish)

There were many great free games that I've played. Those from Remar Games come to mind. Hero Core and Iji are fantastic.
I don't really remember which games I hated the most. Probably some RPG Maker copy-pasted jrpg with wacky animu tropes and horrible writing. There were a lot of those in the olden days.

Really? - I foudn them a little awkward at first, but soon started enjoying it once i'd remapped a few of the more frequently used ones to easy to reach buttons

Yeah, I just couldn't really make it feel good to me.
I have heard it plays well on controller, even on PC, and I do have a logitech controller kicking around, so I may have to try it that way.
For now, however, I'm spending my time in other games. Games that don't require as much finoodling around to get to work.

its definately worth a second try - had something between the "golden" psx era of survival horrors and more modern ones - aside from some great environment designs of course
