I was recently reading a programming guide for a Microbee (Aussie Z80 based system) and had a chuckle when I read "Most systems are clocked at 2Mhz but some of the newer ones are clocked as high as 3.75 Mhz". That was FAST back then!

First of all:
FUCK!
I mean, GOG, those controls appearing on the bloody comment TAB are horrid.
In a clumsy attempt at posting, i was able to both downrate ChaunceyK's post AND report is as spam. Dumb out-of-nowhere buttons.
I'm very sorry ChaunceyK! I didn't want to.:(
[and now, back to the scheduled commenting:]
The keyboard here wansn't AS bad, as the successors. The infamous 1bpp design fail always annoyed me with those machines.

1k of ram but it didn't need any more to run what it needed to. In a few years people will look at 4gb of ram and laugh at that. If anyone reads this in the future then fuck you!!

the 1987 Amiga 500 was powered by a Motorola 68000 @ 7 Mhz
My first PC, in 1987 too, achieved a mere 8 Mhz
And you can find on GOG some games ( Red Baron I for instance ) that were in initially intended to play on 12.5 Mhz 80286s...

I never had the pleasure of owning a ZX spectrum or similar.
The first computer I used was one that my Dad got for work, which was an Amstrad PPC 512.

I think I used it more than he ever did.

My first PC (well my dad's) was a 1985 dual 5.25" diskette drive Tandy 1000 beauty. No hard drive, 4- 7 MHz processor (don't know specifically) and 640K ram which by the way IS still enough for everybody. (If you check your BIOS, it still says 640K base memory and everything else is extended memory).
I don't know what my dad used it for, but we used it to play an alien space invaders type shooter and golf.
Check it out:
