TheEnigmaticT: You can call that marketing or good business practices, but I would call it "trying to not be dicks."
Will you excuse me if I consider you biased? :-P I do call it marketing and good business practices. And I respect that more than "Oh we'll put the future of our company in jeopardy because we don't like something", so let's just leave it at that.

Fenixp: Make no mistake, GOG is not being altrustic; they have just implemented fairly good business model and are very good at marketing and selling their product.
I wish more people would realise this. GOG is a force to be reckoned with not because it is somehow generous or charitable but because it understands the lost art of respecting its customers and that doing so reaps rewards.

Gamers on the whole may not understand how damaging DRM, regionalised pricing and regional locks (something that proved to be a problem for me yesterday but which you very kindly helped me with) are, but GOG demonstrates that it's a principle it's willing to uphold even if it costs it sales in the short term, and this in turn generates goodwill, which I suspect is at the heart of its strategy. You only have to look at Humble to see how damaging it can be to your reputation when you compromise on your principles.

Amen to that, this should be the new slogan for GOG: A place for everyone trying to not be dicks ;)

That extra y in the url results in a 404 btw. Seems like the kobolds are ambushing more than the gnomes.

Interesting. A guy names Richard Wheaton the Third, who insists that people refer to him by his middle name, goes by the motto "Don't be a dick". It all makes sense.

Wheaton's Law is just an off-shoot of Bill and Ted's Dictum
Its the whole Apple App store mentality. Would you rather sell 1000 copies at 10 bucks a pop or 100,000 copies at 2 bucks a pop? Obviously your making more money selling for 2 dollars than you are selling at 10. Not to mention, once you reach impulse buy level price wise, your getting a lot of people to buy the games that never would have purchased them otherwise. So those sales are basically increasing the overall size of the market, or more precicely the number of people that will potentially buy a partciular title.
I should note, I wasn't actually asking the question. You were supposed to read "In brief: I love you guys ;____;"

I've been here awhile and own 292 out of 682 of your games (don't judge me...). This number WILL grow (I can feel someone judging me..!).

Loved reading the responses regardless :D

Well give it time and I'm sure you'll be able to hit as many deals as I have! There's most certainly no shortage O_O;
