MichaelFurlong: So, When I say "Hyundai cars", what are your first thoughts on their brand and their cars?
Toyota wannabe, maybe?

Not sure if that is true, or for good or for bad (Toyota's are generally regarding tasteless but pretty reliable and low-maintenance cars, I gather). I've never driven a Hyundai.

I think the same about e.g. Kia.

I think they keep the best for themsleves :P
I´ve never driven one, but traveled in an Accent and an Elantra. The Accent wasn´t very impressive, the Elantra was nice, though it seemed to drink fuel like a drunk.
One of the better cheap Pacific Rim car manufacturers.

We've got a Santa Fe and it's great for carting the family around in. Although... A tape deck? In a 2008 car? OK it's also got a 6 disc CD changer in the same head unit, but even so...

I immediately think "Modern Cars," as their name, so I'm told, means.

I think of a cheap car that fares better than most cheap cars in a similar price range.

I also think of a car company that has been quickly improving quality faster than any other car manufacturer than I can think of -- but mostly because they started on the bottom.

I've got some tapes that I'd really like to listen to, but my Mini only has a disc player. Can't listen to MP3/Amazon cloud stuff either.

Although, while I'm here (having never owned one) Hyundai seems to me to be a reliable, somewhat boring, rising star with newer and more exciting vehicles. Bearing in mind, my bias (being part Korean) might be showing. A two door Genesis is pretty cool looking.
My impression is that they are a versatile and cheap car that shows signs of age/wear and tear very quickly. They are not very reliable except when you look at the standard set by other cheap car brands, in which case they are very reliable!
Hyundai?
Uninteresting, unintrusive cars that always remind me of Fords.
I see them being driven about, but apart from an association with mothers I never give them a second glance. I would not choose to own one, nor let my gf own one without good reason (free car).
Mine has been a bit of a lemon actually - had all sorts of problems with the starting system, cost me loads to put right
It's always run really nicely when it HAS started though, loose, vague steering was actually a bit scary to begin with but I'm completely used to it now!
I think of their affordable SUV. I may be wrong though.
Honestly, I have no conception of "Hyundai" vehicles. I know they make them, but I couldn't name one or tell you what they look like.
I don't remember ever sitting in one, letting alone driving one, so my impressions come from the outside looking in. But Hyundai today reminds me of the old tagline from Virgina Slims cigarettes: You've come a long way, baby.

Hyundai today is definitely not the Hyundai of 2001. They used to be one of the new cars you bought when you couldn't afford any other new car. Now they have the new cars you buy because you actually want one.

The Veloster Turbo. I love it.

I have no experience with Hyundai, but since I can't afford a Megane RS, I will definitely keep the Veloster in mind for my next car purchase.

My first thought used to be "cheap crap", but I've softened over time (having known peeps that have owned one).

But I would likely not buy one anyways. That's somewhat because I live in an area where sometimes I am "out in the boonies"; and in those places, it seems more frequent to run into a "BUY ' MERICAN" attitude, so I prefer to be found in, say, a Ford, than an import (even though in reality most cars are multinational these days; and although Toyota pickups often seem to be an exception to that "mentality).
When my parents wanted a cheap sedan, there were plenty of Hyundai to choose from.... add after add for brilliant deals....... all basted 2 doors!!!

This is the thing with 2 door sedans..... people who have never owned one always think it should be ok to get one. Then when they get fed up with it, they want to sell it, but all the smart people looking to buy a car won't touch it, especially those whom have previously owned a 2 door sedan!! So then the numbers of 2 door vehicles for sale gets very high and the price gets very cheap, then i come seeing all the brilliant prices trying to buy one and get pissed off because their all 2 door!

Note to future rioters.... if your going to fire bomb any cars, make sure their Hyundai 2 door!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think affordable, fuel efficient, perhaps not the best quality and really good warranty.
