Jokes aside, this man was probably one of the awesomest people on the planet. I wish he was my grandfather.
I know being a son of Hideo Kojima is great as well, but still.

I was blowing on my cartridges too, it just didn't click me when referred to people... :P
I'm guessing that if he had access to a time machine he would have gone back in time and insisted upon paying for better cartridge slots so as to end that joke once and for all.

Rest in peace.
It's not often a business person has such a good instinct in terms of development of not only what will be popular but what gamers will enjoy.

I read the N64 was a bad decision. Yes, maybe for Nintendo. Maybe for the company. But not for the gamers. I wouldn't want to miss Blast Corps or Banjo-Kazooie! And my awe when playing Ocarina of Time...

RIP Yamauchi-san. Nintendo was such a huge part of my childhood and young adulthood.

Sad indeed. When the next obscure but legendary PC dev dies, there better be some mourning.

Anyone wanting to know more about this guy should read "Game Over Press Start To Continue" where his impact on Nintendo is chronicled extensively.
jjsimp: I never understood that sentiment, unless you were slinging dirt at someone. I don't feel that is insulting the guy that brought so many people so much joy. Me either. Then again I don't consider many things to be sacrosanct.
Other people's understanding or lack thereof is their problem. It's not like we're at the guy's funeral.
He didn't really didn't know what gamers would enjoy. He left that to the experts he surrounded himself with. He was a pure businessman and the only game he was reported to play was Go.
