Anyway, regarding an old-school CDP game, it could work, as long as CDP doesn't compromise. The Witcher 2 is very much twitch-based, and quite linear, though still a great game. It'll be an interesting experiment if CDP can work on a game that follows the lines of the late 80s and early 90s' games' vision.
I don't think anyone has pointed it out already, but at the moment Kickstarter is available only for US

"To be eligible to start a Kickstarter project, you need to satisfy the requirements of Amazon Payments:

Be a permanent US resident and at least 18 years of age with a Social Security Number (or EIN), a US bank account, US address, US state-issued ID (driver’s license), and major US credit or debit card."

Edit: that is to create a project, not for funding, obviously.

gameon: I'm sure cdp have friends in america/could outsource a small development team for a kickstarter project, if they really wanted to do it.
Good point
Why should they?
In short, it would be taking the piss for them to use crowdsourcing when they've already got crowds throwing money at them.

If they wanted to know what we're interested in seeing, either here or as a new title, then they could just poll us.

wpegg: Gog has started, and is still going. There is nothing to kick.

ThreeSon: I don't mean to support GOG, I mean for CDP to make a new, classic RPG.
If they will start, everyone participate no doubt.

True but there is more than one Kickstarter type site; the biggest one I can think of this one:

http://www.indiegogo.com/

This one doesn't require a US address. Anyone can start a project it and fund it on this one.
