I played for the first eight minutes to check it out real quick.

I just thought that I would note that after the movie introduction I thought that this was going to be a really stupid, pointless and gory shooter game but a few minutes in I noticed the game didn't immediately break into utter chaos.

So basically a madman has invited a bunch of people on a pleasure cruise and they've all wound up stopped out in the middle of the ocean only for him to come up in a conference room on a television screen to inform them that he has brought everyone there to hunt each other.

Now younger people growing up with only "Saw" are going to immediately think what I thought but us older people grew up with seventies spy flicks.

The narration does not reveal but I'm assuming this is a counter-intelligence criminal and all the passengers are spies that he got fed up with meddling with his activities.

Under this instance wouldn't the obvious thing to do be for all the captured agents to work together to take down his crew, find him and take the ship back to port?

The only thing is...if this dude isn't a total bonehead, then he's probably broadcasting himself from shore and if he isn't on the boat there's a really good chance that a bomb probably is - Especially given that the game has a bit of a comical overtone.

I don't mean this as a spoiler (if I'm correct) it's just speculation based on similar espionage movies from several decades ago.
It's not really a spoiler in the sense that the game has really no story beyond the setup. Even while it has a single player version, it's a multiplayer game at heart. Single player has a bit more story but you shouldn't really expect much of an elaboration on the setup.
