Tantrix: You guys should check out [a/.
They are currently butthurt because moot called anime "cartoons."

Well... what else are they?
So, the FBI doesn't surf the Internet in their spare time?
Interweb: bringing new knowledge to the table everyday!

sauvignon1: 4chan destroyed my soul and turned me into the curmudgeon who now stands before you.

Pfft, LIFE did that to me, we didn't need sad attention whore groups back in my day!

There was that story a few years back that the fbi had such heavy restrictions on their systems that they could only google one word at a time, they'd probably have to search for '4' and 'chan' seperately

lol. Maybe I was a bit too dramatic with that post.

michaelleung: Q. And the term "rickroll" you said it tries to
make people go to a site where they think it is going to
be one thing, but it is a video of Rick Astley, is that
right?
A. Yes.
Q. He was some kind of singer?
A. Yes.
Q. It's a joke?
A. Yes.

Would have been utterly amusing had moot replied with a "let me show you this Wikipedia entry..."

Well, atleast they can still google the word 'porn'. Should keep them entertained.

Well, 4chan is one word, albeit one with a digit as the first character. As far as I know it's not called "4 chan".

HoneyBakedHam: Well... what else are they?

As much as Married with children was pornography. Softporn, but still.
It's probably an elaborate troll from the creator of the troll republic dictatorship kingdom.
You know... I never knew Moot was as young as he is.....
Oh.. poor RIcky.... it's like we are never gonna give him up ;)
I loled @ "white night".
The term meme was coined in 1976 via Dawkin's book "The Selfish gene". It predates 4chan by a few years.

Yes, "meme" is a word from Dawkins... Which he took from the Greek mimetismos which means "something imitated" and which I am pretty sure I spelled wrong...
But I am left unclear about "white knight" which seems like, from the testimony, that moot guessed at to satisfy the question rather than to admit either what it really meant or that he didn't know.

I thinks it's quite simple - just imagine trying to explain a term like "white knight" or "moralfag" to a clearly biased audience. Being asked about "tits or gtfo" or the significance of the pool being closed would be a relief, in comparison ;P.

Actually, my point is that I don't know what "white knight" means...
I understand it in terms of the greater culture, but I don't use 4chan and while I tend to know what most Internet culture memes are, this one I don't. If I had to guess, I'd liken it to "white hat" but with 4chan, who knows... those guys think "fag" is funny, so who knows...
(note: I looked it up... so now I know)
There are like a billion little culture nuggets, and most of them of useless. I mean, rickrolling was funny, but it got old, and I'm not surprised that it is really only understood by a certain part of the culture.
But these guys aren't biased... They don't care. moot is just witness, and I read the entire transcript and think he comported himself with grace and maturity that is... surprising, actually. But these lawyers just want facts so they can prosecute (or defend, depending) the kid who posted Palin's email...
I say Palin is fair game. Let the kid go. He did a public service, even if he did choose a weird avenue to post information.
