TheCheese33: Why shouldn't I be in an r-rated movie? I'm 18 now. Also, I live in Texas, near Dallas.
Wait, you have to be 25 to see R-rated films in D.C.? Crazy!
avatar
honorbuddy: Nah, the woman was just an idiot. I was just giving you a hard time, it's not like I'm that much older than you, but you were definitely not 18 when 30 Days came out! Remind me not to go to Dallas since movies are crazy expensive there.

tb87670: I never went to a theater since 2000 and DVD players were cheap enough for me to save money by getting the DVD's cheaper than tickets. That and theaters suck, tons of people you don't like surrounding you is just one of many reasons I stopped going when I was a kid, I NEVER ENJOYED THEATERS!

I feel like the movie theater is part of the experience, the movie popcorn, the big screen, the loudness, sharing the experience with other people (laughing, crying, etc...).

Yeah, you got me there. I went with my parents when 30 Days came out.
IMO 3D kind of annoys me anyways, at least in movies. They are supposed to be coming out with avatar on blu ray in 3D, i say they can keep it. I'm on the fence about 3D gaming too, it will take a lot to convince me otherwise!
I support the local film industries by only going to flemish movies. those aren't infected with either 16 year olds nor with people from over the border (damn loud Dutch)
Just did a search at Fandango for prices, 3D tickets for How to Train Your Dragon are $14.50 for adults at the highest price at the yuppy center around here called Bridgeport Village. Everywhere else in Portland the tickets are around $13 or $13.50
Also, as far as opening day movie going goes, it can be hit or miss. If you want to see a big name release, yeah, stupid. There will always be tons of people in there and your experience with the people being dicks with their cell phones or talking or what not will increase with that amount.
The ONE exception to this has been when I saw Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day on opening day, first showing at 13:00. I think there were a total of 4 people there including me and my wife. Pretty sad considering the DVD and Blu-ray sales for it were through the roof.

TheCheese33: Some of the theaters around here are now charging $20 for a 3D movie ticket. Bullshit. I can get a Blu-Ray copy of that same movie for $20 on Amazon. Needless to say, I will not be going to a 3D movie again anytime soon, and I suggest you all do the same.

The last time i when to a movie theater i burn it to the ground.Along with killing every one in side. then did what i do best turning the now dead in to undead minions.

Not that I would pay $20 to go see a movie (3D or not), but at one time, I did live next door to the guy that invented 3D glasses.

I really must be missing something here. Last 3D Movie we saw was G-Force. We went early and matinee tickets were $6.50 and we got glasses. What movies are they doing this for?

All 3D movies. Matinee is cheaper. But even for matinee $6.50 is pretty cheap.
