I want to install a 32 bit driver for my 64 bit Windows Vista. Is this possible?
To the best of my knowledge it isn't possible.

AFAIK, drivers need to be the same as the OS.

Why would you want to do that? Can you give some explanation?
Run a virtual machine with XP and pass through the device to there (only possible for USB devices though, Im afraid). I believe that's the best you can do unless it's something that needs to work correctly in the host OS.

That is, a PCI card or favourite old many-button mouse wouldn't be possible (the former cannot be connected to the VM, and the latter can only be used on the host as a generic mouse, not with the special functions), but a USB-connected scanner would (though cumbersome to use).

It could be that there aren't any 64 bit drivers for whatever it is. That's the only reason I can think of.

I was wondering because I can' t find a 64 bit driver for this device in my laptop. I can only find a 32 bit driver.

What device exactly? :)

A CIR device. I don't know what it is really but I don't like leaving devices uninstalled.

Hmm... one second, let me just update a driver for it (it could work).

EDIT: Here, try this. Go to Device Manager, select the device without the driver, right click, update driver software, and then browse and point to the directory where you extracted the files.

I already installed this driver that was advertised as a 32 bit driver and it worked. :)
What's the Hardware ID string for the device?

Edit:
Delay my last, problem solved.

As far as I know, the one I uploaded at least, is 100% compatible with my 64bit Windows 7 installation. Also:

"[Manufacturer]
%ENE%=ENE,NTamd64.6.0"

Judging by this, it should be 64bit. ;)

I'd love to do that for my lame excuse of a pocket camera myself, but not everybody has a legal copy of Win XP around :p
