Telika: Stuff I was writing about in my HUGE LOST POST :
1) I had read a lot about germanic/celtic folklore, and found interesting to see a slovene version of the king-under-the-hill trope, by
Densetsu. I was a tad disappointed by copy-pasted texts instead of stories being told to me by the poster's own words, but, having searched for some iconography to add compensated that.
2) Still I wanted to make a second randomization (for a secondary prize), in hope to catch a poster-written text. Tough luck, got the wiki-pasted text of
Park_84. Still an amusing tale, reminding me that the german expression for "per head" is "
per nose".
3) Being pathologically stubborn, I ran yet another randomization, and this time, got
Fake_sketch's own text, which, as an added bonus, is about a ghost ship (yayy, ships, I love sea tales).
So, this is the story of how I end up with 3 games to pay instead of 1. Thanks everybody for the highly interesting stories. There would be a lot to say about them. Licurg, you may be interested by
a recent movie, dealing with traditional strigois. I found that film great, apart from the fact it's in english (they preferred having romanian actors speak english with romanian accents than inflicting subtitles to read with the brain to their poor illiterate public, and this tends to enrage me a bit). This movie is deliciously coherent with what I know of romanian vampires from ethnographic accounts (such as Ioanna Andreescu's lovely little monography). Kasbe_DRC, yeah, we've got a couple Devil's Bridges in Switzerland too. Generally we trick the devil with a goat. Titanium, I'm not certain how legit your story is, but getting the 1882 picture at the end made me laugh heartily. Still, I'm not sure of the interpretation, it could also be a punishment in hell for women who talked back, etc. And I didn't include the black cat in the giveaway because it's an omen that P1na will die in four days anyway.
But thanks again to all those who participated. All these tales are really great. Let us keep them alive !
