Xandax: You've missed out on a truly great game because of it.

No, I played a good chunk of it. I even liked the gameplay quite a bit, but the combat was just executed so unsatisfactorily. And when you just want to sneak around stealthily, the lack of immersion demanded quite a bit of suspension of disbelief. I was willing to do that up until I got to the second part of the underground facility in Hong Kong. I just got tired of playing along with the game's technical limitations.

fuNGoo: Yeah, it pretty much straddles that whole tongue-in-cheek self referential campiness and overcompensating for lack of real manhood, but it depends on your perspective. I just accept the whole stupidity of it the way I take the misogyny that Duke Nukem 3D offers. It's all good stupid fun if the game plays well and looks pretty enough. Is this any different from the juvenile days of Contra and Doom?

Well Doom had no dialogue as far as I recall, so despite the lone hardcore marine aspect, it wasn't so in your face macho as GoW was. You're right though, if it's a good game who cares. It's just a shame that GoW was mediocre at best.

JudasIscariot: I want a skul-gunn in the prequel....nothing more nothing less will do.

Absolutely. I liked finding the reference to that in IW, too, even if I thought the game as a whole was mediocre.
