For the record, if anyone really enjoys that song and hasn't played Dwarf Fortress, then what the Hells are you still doing in this thread? The game is free! And awesome! And dwarves! And beer! And Dwarven beer!

Most people probably know the chorus came from a Yogscast Minecraft session but the full song references DF, MC, and dwarven greatness in general.

Niggles: Strange question - what sort of a budget do people put aside for these kind of sales?
I don't/didn't -- I tended to just buy things that looked good and interesting to me. I did set myself a soft limit of £25 each for the autumn and winter sales on GOG, as I'm going to need careful budgeting soon (if my house situation ever gets sorted out). Gaming's my main hobby so it's not overly like I'm siphoning money from other places, but I've spent more than I feel comfortable with how large my backlog is.

For the autumn sale, I ended up spending £2.79; for the winter sale so far I've spent £19.42 (plus also using up £4.50 of store credit I had saved up). I'm not sure if I'm going to pick up Reprisal Universe if the bundles all appear on the last day, but otherwise I can't see anything that I'd truly, really want (well, that can't wait until a further sale anyway).

Stick around, I got plenty more from where this guy came from. (^‿◕)

Ragnarblackmane: Brothers of the mine rejoice,
Swing, swing, swing with me.
Raise your pick and raise your voice,
Sing, sing, sing with me.
Down and down into the deep,
Who knows what we'll find beneath?
Diamonds, rubies, gold and more,
Hidden in the mountain store.
Okay...so...that song is awesome. Just showed it to the hubby and he was laughin'. Loves his dwarves. :D

CarrionCrow: Well, odds are, I won't be able to get into them to any great degree before they go off sale. Also, honestly? Lack of sleep is kind of screwing with fine motor control. So I'd probably die a LOT.
Hah. I can understand that! No, I'm just interested in the opinions of people who've played them. They're not on my wishlist, nor are they likely to be, but they're games I keep eyeing anyway. If they look interesting enough, or if people rave about them, they're the sort of games I'm likely to pick up piecemeal on sales. So, even if it's a week or six months from now, I'd like to hear about them.

That looks like fun! Thanks for pointing at it... and I'm still giggling over that song. It's just awesome.

We have the same mantra! I feel somewhat guilty for including it but that game is on my Secret Santa wishlist, by no means do I expect someone to spend that much on a single game for a single person. As it was I left off some of the more expensive items and even updated my wiki page to reflect that, tricksy gifting hobbits...

Unfortunately I cannot gift you AOW III but how about some free Dwarvish lessons?

I like dwarf fortress, although I find it always goes one of two ways, I either struggle mercilessly and all my dwarves die, or I breeze through to having a functioning self sufficient fort and it's boring...

But if you like Dwarf Fortress (or fun) then you need to read this: http://lparchive.org/Dwarf-Fortress-Boatmurdered/

It is epic and awesome and hilarious. It might take a while though.

HypersomniacLive: I am; I am also observant, so check your PMs. :-)
To find a glorious gift indeed, thank you very much. :-P

Luckily I don't have a reputation to maintain. :-)

Now, I have to go download some games...
(I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole...)

This is great! Can we get a GoG mod to find a way to record and upload audio for this song, and have it as the theme to this thread?

Also, finished up STALKER to get ready for Pripyat! I was very close to the end and put it on the back burner (I forget why). Man, I forgot how tense that game is but it was awesome through and through.

But now I need Sachys (he's the huge STALKER fan / guru yes?) in here stat to ask endgame questions.

Never actually heard the song before. As to why i don't play dwarf fortress. Not really my type of game. *shrugs*

Your song did remind me of another dwarven song though.

I'll take it, thanks!
Finally I have time for myself. Good night, folks!
First I saw an invasion by vikings, now dwarves are building fortresses. What comes next? An orcish horde? :-)

I have to be extra careful with my budget as I need to take into account the exchange rate to my local currency.
