It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

skeletonbow: Hahaha, yes... there is always the option of having two windows side by side, but that duplicates all of your bookmarks toolbar and other UI elements and wastes space, plus all of the web pages in either browser are then half-screen. :) There are plugins to allow splitting of a single tab into two panes side by side though and that is useful for some things, allowing the browser to remain maximized (my personal preference). :) I'm somewhat of a power user mind you ... to give you an idea of what I mean by that, I have the entire Bookmark Toolbar filled on a 30" monitor, over 700 web pages open in tabs at the moment, tab groups, about 45 active browser extensions and much more... I'm that "corner case" user that is every website owner's nightmare. :)
Figured you had a reason, but i couldn't stop myself making a joke :)

A M A Z I NG !!! Finally found someone else who suffers from "severe open tab disorder"... Have about 5 firefox profiles, with each between 200 - 1000 open tabs... granted i don't use the profiles concurrently (& no bookmarks) but its an ordered mess :) Extension wise i have 10 essential ones. anyways if you value screen real estate you might like [url=https://userstyles.org/styles/84112/firefox-addonbar-in-urlbar-tweaks]two firefox userstyles, as i just couldn't stand the wasted space on my 30" screen :)

skeletonbow: One problem with the Rift is that you wont be able to see your hands or what they are doing and if that is important to see the keyboard or flip a switch or something it might be tricky in some games ...
True, but i am one of those people who exlusively play with a 5-button mouse and a onehand-game-keyboard where once programmed i can't miss a key. What whould be super awesome then would be some overlay, that when looking down at my hand shows me an image of my keyboard (without my hand) and overlays the correct game icons onto it. Kinda like to holo buttons in the final fantasy movie :)

When was the last time anyone saw Tower of Guns? I gave it a look and decided to pass, then two days later my son points out he wants it for his birthday. Figures right? I'm watching the sales but haven't seen it come around in a while.

Looks like it came around on Saturday.
If anyone already owns the complete Risen bundle I'm interested in trading for Risen 1.

Wow, damn, figured it came around during the night for me. Thanks for pointing it out. Guess I'll keep watching.
I hope Lilly and Edna & Harvey show up soon. Just kidding. Seems like they are in the flash sales non-stop.
There's a sale on? :P

I've been spending this sale period downloading the up-to-date versions of my collection with the grand idea of playing something. Given how prone I am to grand ideas, this new game of downloading games isn't quite as fun as the game of constantly buying them but who knows where it might lead me?

I was tempted to say "OMFG x is one sale and my PooPal account isn't working! PLZ HALP! ><" but then I realised that I don't use Paypal anymore and my bank account is empty because I've spent it on other things. Cop that banks, you'll make no ill gotten gains on the short term money market with my money! :D

Welcome back, Tarnicus. After you put in so much face time--er--avatar time--at the Insomnia Sale, I'd been wondering where you were hiding these days.

I haven't been feeling very sociable or energetic of late. This is my first winter in the mountains without a firepit or indoor fire, and I don't think I'll do it again. My moods are definitely linked to the weather and I'm missing fire a lot, especially my routine of collecting, sawing and chopping wood daily.
And thanks infinityeight :)

I hope the sun shines a bit for you this season.

It's hard to make the switch between fires and gas/electric heating, isn't it? I've had to switch myself since most of the rental properties in my town in my price bracket don't include indoor fireplaces. It's been several years since I had an indoor fire, and I still really miss curling up in front of a warm fireplace and the ritual of assembling newspaper, kindling, and proper logs in the right configuration to make a fire. Indoor fires and all of the paraphernalia that go with them are messy and impractical and I miss them terribly.

Ceht: I don't mean for this to sound pissy and ungrateful, but with so many games now on GOG, do we really need to have the same handful in constant rotation for the flash sales? It's great they're being put on sale and all, but it seems a little ridiculous to see the same games come up day after day; like the system's stuck on "Repeat" instead of "Shuffle."
I wouldn't call 227 games a handful.

Especially given that GOG has 754 games (not counting DLC), so you have 30% of the catalogue on flash sale.

It only appears to be few because we keep such a close eye on it and because they chose more appearances for shorter periods rather than longer appearances (*eyes Steam's 8 hours "flash" sales*).

GOG could easily have given us an impression of variety with less games by rationing how many they showed at first and adding one or two per day. Start with 100 games, add 5 a day for 18 days and you get the new game rush that you seek with only 190 games instead of 227.

But while it would make the sale more interesting for us (more insomnia like) it would also make it much easier to miss games you want from the flash sale if you don't follow it assiduously.

And now I'm off to get some sun while it's out.

Oh, I don't doubt that there are more games than what I'm seeing. But when I said "handful," I'm talking about the games that literally show up for multiple days in a row when I check to see what new stuff's there. Divinity: Dragon Commander, Duke Nukem 3D, Rise Of The Triad (2013), Inquisitor, and a fair number of others make daily appearances. Yeah, it's nice to get another shot at something, but do we really need that many shots at it when there are other games that could use a little spotlight love?

The pack idea's great, and that the games go on sale at all is wonderful. But that said, I think the flash sales need to be shuffled better so people like me don't feel like they're in Groundhog Day as the same games keep popping up each time. 227 games over two weeks or more shouldn't leave me feeling like I'm mostly seeing the same 50 games over and over, ya know?

Yes, my tab use and abuse is a combination of using the browser in a very functional and practical power-user way in combination with being lazy and not cleaning up after myself. If I was more tidy and cleaned up after myself regularly, and utilized bookmarks when they are a more sensible thing to use I could get by with a single row of 100 or less tabs as I have in the past. The 30" display plus new computer with infinite resources for the web browser kind of caused me to get lazy though. :) However, I am now occasionally finding the browser exhausts 3GB of memory from time to time causing instability and crashes (due to memory leaks in extensions I believe but have not yet pinpointed). That is both a blessing in that the browser is prevented from using more than around 3GB of RAM due to being a 32bit application, or a bane depending on how one looks at it. ;)

Yeah, I've got a 20-button mouse that I love and wouldn't want to live without (even just for web browsing), although if I haven't used a particular game or piece of software in a while I sometimes forget all of my custom button assignments. A hotkey triggerable overlay for that for various input hardware would be cool. :)

have you got any recommendations for specific plugins to try?

Could just be that once you've noticed something you see it every time it appears. I only just noticed Driver today, I thought it was new in the rotation but it has been there all along.

IanM: have you got any recommendations for specific plugins to try?
Sure, here are some of the ones that I've used for a long time now and really find useful/beneficial:

AdBlock Plus
AdBlock Plus Popup Addon
Element Hiding Helper For AdBlock Plus
Tab Mix Plus
NoScript
RequestPolicy
Ghostery
Better Privacy
Privacysuite
Cookie Monster
Disconnect
Calomel SSL Validation
Classic Theme Restorer 1.2.1
DownloadHelper
Enhanced Steam
Firefox OS 1.3 Simulator
ForceTLS
Greasemonkey
Greasefire
HTTPS-Everywhere
HTTPS-Finder
Is It Compatible?
Add-on Compatability Reporter
Max Tabs
Nightly Tester Tools
Privacy Badger Firefox
S3.Download.Statusbar
SPDY Indicator
IPvFox
Stylish
Youtube High Definition
CipherFox
Lightbeam
HTML Validator

That's a handful of the most useful/interesting ones that I have enabled at the moment. Some of them have overlapping functionality which either complement each other, or I pick and choose which extension provides the particular feature. For example, 3 different ways to force TLS are present, I mainly use HTTPS-Everywhere for that, but also sometimes use NoScript for it, and the ForceTLS extension has similar functionality but I mainly use it as a user interface to observe and tweak Firefox's built in HSTS management (which does not have a user interface built into the browser). Likewise, several of the extensions have cookie management abilities, web trackker/bug detection and blocking, etc. I kind of use them all together in a "best of the best" way rather than relying on one to do it all but settle for one or more subfeatures being not as good as another extension. :)

Anyhow, it's not my full list but it's a decent list to have a look through and maybe find some useful gems.
