Matruchus: reply to Skeletonbow:

So I checked the Divinity release thread. It seems that the Divinity: Original Sin is going to be released on gog.com (today, tomorrow) only for kickstarter supporters. Everybody else will be able to buy the game on 31th of August (released on Steam and everywhere else today) when gog galaxy client is going to be released which multiplayer option Divinity: Original Sin will be using with gog version of the game. Basically gog is shooting themselves in the knee. I think most people won't wait two more months to buy and play the game.

Official statement from GDoc about this: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/coming_soon_divinity_original_sin/post85
Yep, I just happened to catch up on that probably the same time you were reading it too. :) Good news for the Kickstarter backers, but it seems everyone else isn't too pleased with having to wait until Aug 31 for the game to roll out for general purchase. I'm neutral personally as I wasn't going to buy it immediately myself, but sad to see so many people upset by the unexpected delay.

If it were 10-15 years ago and I was eagerly awaiting the release and chomping at the bit for some day-1 game play I might have felt similarly perhaps. I seem to have grown a lot more patient in these last 15 years though and have more of a "meh, shit happens" calming peace of mind now though. :)

Personally I think everyone should totally buy Postal 2 and take some of their anger and frustration out by pouring gas on people and setting them on fire (in the game!) and whatnot. The big Postal 2 patch is coming soon here too, any day, and if it is late people can go postal about it until it actually gets released, and then go postal even more! :)
Crap!!!! I only just found out there was a sale! what an swine! :/

The sale was on for two weeks :) Were where you?

MWink: Good sale! I feel like GOG outdid Steam in many ways during this sale. I am still curious what was up with Banished. I guess we may never know. Now, in addition to the Keaning, we have the Banishing.
If so, that one will have to get in line behind several much-older GOG memes, in addition to the other new one from this sale: that Alan is a heavy sleeper and does not like to be disturbed.

Yeah, who would ever buy a game that old?

Bambusek: We saw all flash sales on the first day and the only thing to look for later was bundles (with exception of Adrenaline Rush - that was awesome)
Was a good summer sale, even when I was on vacation the last 2 weeks and travelling around. I still got internet access in the hotels occasionally (@GOG: your web site is a pain on slow internet links :P) and bought several games. I even got Magrunner for free. But what were the other 3 free games? And what was the Adrenaline Rush?

There were four free games next to Magrunner:
Stil Life 2
Omerta
Torchlight
Alan Wake American Nightmare

No idea what Adrenaline Rush was.

Don't know about "most people", but it's not much of a problem for me. I'm not going to buy a not-DRM free version anyway, even if there was not going to be any other, so I don't care when Steam releases anything. And I have so many games to play that I have bought and not even installed yet (even more after the sale), that I probably wouldn't buy anything new right now anyway. And that's despite the fact that I am a huge Divinity fan. And right now I expect that to be the case with most gog users.

Not really. Check the official Divinity release thread - plenty of people now seem to be prepared to change for Steam which is bad for gog but its not surprising. Plenty of people waited for the game to be released here as it was expected and then kaboom wait two months for the not so optional gog client.

Another fantastic sale over. It was fun and I ended up with a few games I didn't think I would have ever bought, including 1954: Alcatraz and Octodad.

I wonder at what time I will eventually get enough of GOG's catalog that these epic sales will mean nothing to me?

I shudder to think...

GOG.com: *snip*
Is it wrong for me to believe that we should be the ones to thank you guys back for all the hard work that has been put into making this all possible? No awesome site and community can exists without those who are in charge of everything. I don't post often but I'm always enjoying myself spending a few minutes for reading the forum.

And thanks GOG.com for this awesome sale!

While being DRM free on GOG is a better option, I agree that some people aren't bothered by the DRM on Steam enough to warrant waiting for it to come to GOG. Personally I'm going to wait, because I'm in the same boat as Breja where after this sale I have a ton of games to play that will more than take two months to get through. It's just a matter of how bothered people are by Steam, and if the answer is "not really" then the delay may cause people to get it there. Hopefully more people will decide to be patient and wait to get it here though. I think it's worth it.
It was a fun sale! Thank you for all the great games!
