IAmSinistar: ... Ah well, the curse of a large collection, I guess.
avatar
Stilton: I can sympathize with that. My collection is a healthy size and its put me in a kind of void where I'm trying to find temptation in things my heart really isn't into. On one hand its great not to want to dive at every other game that comes along, but it does leave me feeling somewhat removed from proceedings.
Pretty much the same here, 320 on my shelf and the only others I really want all fall into the $19.99 and up range.
I don't seem to have the desire to buy games I probably wouldn't care for.

CarrionCrow: Yeah....the bundles aren't really filling me with confidence, either. One game shy of having the whole lot of them, and that's only because I didn't think the game was appealing enough to be worth 2 and a quarter.
Also, if you want, I can keep an eye out for Space Run in case it hits again while I'm up and you're proving your superior common sense by actually sleeping regularly.

IAmSinistar: The only bundle I actually bought in this sale was the Mount & Blade Series one. And it would have been damn hard for me to have those games here before they offered that one. I already had everything in The Ultimate D&D Collection, Best of Bullfrog, Theme Rollercoaster, Spiderweb RPGs, Heroes of Might and Magic Series, Deponia Trilogy, Indie Puzzlers, Thief Series, WadjetEye Retroventures, and Hitman Classics before this started, plus some of the games in other ones. No surprise that this sale hasn't set my wallet aflame. :D

Thanks for the offer to keep watch for Space Run. I believe Foxy is doing the same, so please make sure you don't both buy it. And I'll let you all know if I happen to be online in time to get it myself. But if it rolls around in the wee hours again, I likely won't.

Ta!
Not a problem. Might as well put insomnia to use.

Additional - I can't stop watching the Dethklok clip about lack of zazz. It fits the situation to an almost insane degree.

HypersomniacLive: Shout out to Pidgeot for his handy script that makes consolidating the data so much easier!
Is that script downloadable somewhere?

Well, that's almost 100 more than I have, so at the moment you're in a worse place than me! :-(

Stilton: Wasn't there one called Cataclysm? I think it was an addon.
Homeworld: Cataclysm is a standalone game. The plot is set after the events of Homeworld 1 and involves a minor clan dealing with a kind of infestation by a alien organism. I have it on disc.

Thank you for that, I was beginning to wonder if I'd imagined it or got confused with another game ;-) Sounds like it slots in between 1 & 2, then.

As far as I know, no. You have to ask Pidgeot.

Yeah, Cataclysm was an interesting game too. The "Beast" enemy had a real Borg feel to them. In Skirmish mode, if you played The Beast, there was an ability to take over other ships and use them as your own!

Homeworld's one of those games I've always meant to get around to playing, but for some reason haven't. I've never heard anything bad about it.

My memories about it are a bit foggy. I played it a long time ago.
It's one of the many games I have which I always plan to replay but never get to do it. :-P

It really was a great series that every gamer should play. Please vote for it on GOG! :)

There's another vote on the pile ;-)

The Homeworld games are great, I really hope we get them here. Cataclysm is actually developed by a different studio, but is an excellent part of the series. The enemy is called The Beast, and it has the ability to infect and take over ships that come to close to its vessels. I actually enjoyed it more than Homeworld 2, but the first Homeworld is the best of them all.

Interesting side note, Homeworld parallels some of the narrative of Battlestar Galactica, and was actually proposed as a BG game at one point. This all came full circle when in Battlestar Galactica: Razor, the narrator of Homeworld appeared as one of the Cylon ship controllers (the same role that the character Karan Sjet plays in Homeworld). There are moments in the new BG series where you can feel the influence of Homeworld, especially in the dogfights and in the music.

I'm going to make a point of playing it; its one of the benchmark games that people sooner or later start talking about again. I'll be missing out on the fun if I don't ;-)

Thank you for that awesome bit of trivia :). I too hope they come to gog one day as well - actually nabbed a copy of Homeworld 2
off eBay the other day to go along with my own copies of other two games (",)...
