Melhelix: I got Thief 3 in my box earlier today and I'm wondering if I should pick it up. $2.50, worth it? Not worth it? Hmmm....

CarrionCrow: Would say it all depends on how you feel about stealth. If you can play a stealth game, feel like a ninja, enjoy those "Oh crap, they spotted me, what now?" moments, then 75 percent off is always good.
But, if you play stealth like me, running around like a drunken rhino who unloads a shotgun full of fireworks into the nearest wall for no apparent reason? Then it's probably a pass.
Thanks! Think I'll pass for now then. There's always the next sale if the urge to slink strikes later.

nijuu: Caved in and bought Race the Sun after playing the demo. Question, anyone who played it, are there access to mods?. Devs site mentions steamwork for people to share stuff but what about drm free owners?
Never played it but my guess is here is the best place to look for other worlds.

Ghorpm: I was thinking about it too and... well, let's do some math, shall we?

SOTS: The Pit gold edition costs 12.99$ so 70% off it will cost 3.9$
Mindgames DLC and Gold Edition upgrade cost 4.99$ and 2.99$, respectively. But they are 50% during the entire sale so they cost 2.49$ and 1.49$ so 3.98$. That's only 8 cents more than the whole Gold Edition will cost tomorrow. So I won't be surprised if they are not included in a bundle tomorrow because you can upgrade your game during the whole sale for (almost) the same price.

doady: 70% off $7.98 is $2.39. If it's any more than that then it will be a slap in the face to all the early buyers. But I guess that's par the course for all this DLC bullshit.
I understand your point but personally I wouldn't call it "a slap in the face". After all it's up to you when you buy your games and it's almost certain that the longer you wait the better deal you may get. In many cases a game becomes a freeware, would you call it a slap in the face to all buyers too? The major difference is that you had the possibility to play the base game all the time while new buyers couldn't do that. You both pay the same price (let's forget about 8 cents) but early buyers had an access to a base game for some time already.

But as I said in the beginning, I do understand your point and partially agree with it. What I presented above it's just a calculation and we cannot switch off our emotions and deal like this (assuming there won't be 70% discount for upgrading a base game) DOES make us feel that we've been somehow cheated and that the new customers are treated better. Bad PR I would say, Kerberos Productions should avoid situations like this.

So I cannot say I share your opinion but it's not like I disagree with it completely. I'm somewhere in the middle... in a few hours we'll know more, so far those are just our speculations ;)

Buenro-games: I hope Spelunky isn't disappointing. We shall see in a few hours.
I would say it's very addictive, fun and... hard as nails. Honesty, the game is very brutal, even more than Rogue Legacy. Mainly because in the latter your heirs are getting stronger and stronger (most of the time at least) while you won't find anything like that in Spelunky. You can, however, build shortcuts that will allow you to start the game in latter levels (there are four standard worlds and shortcuts let you reach a beginning of each world). Beside that - no character development. The idea is that you, the player, becomes smarter after each failure ;) Most of the time you will learn how different traps work hard way. It's almost guaranteed that you'll die after just a few moments after reaching a new world for the first time :) But don't worry, it's not that you are losing much and every time you start a new game every level is generated randomly so it's not getting repetitive. I managed to beat the game after 140 horrible deaths and from what I saw over the Internet, it's a pretty good achievement ;) I can wholeheartedly recommend the game!
Bought "Race the Sun". Immediately found that, despite being a single-player game, it hangs while loading if there's no internet connection. That's a pretty serious oversight on the part of the developers! The intentions may be different, but the effect is perilously close to internet-based DRM, so I guess this will be my first use of the money back guarantee policy, unless a patch is forthcoming.

EDIT: I messed that up. The game does hang if I tell my firewall to deny it internet access (which is of course an entirely reasonable thing to do to a single-player game with no stated internet requirements), but that may be dependent on the firewall in question. The game works just fine with no internet when the firewall is not intervening!

The internet should only be an option if you wanted the online leader boards and daily challenges; I know I can play offline (press a button). As for it hanging I haven't seen that personally yet, but definitely make some noise about it to get it fixed.

Yep, I've logged a support request, and hopefully the developers will get a patch underway (I'm pretty sure there's nothing GOG can do about it directly). FYI you should be able to see this for yourself simply by pulling your network cable out before running the game.

EDIT: As per the edit to the original post, this was incorrect. Although I thought I'd tested this very scenario before posting, I seem to have messed it up. Without firewall intervention, the game does work fine if I simply unplug my network cable. It successfully loads the menu, and I can choose the offline option.

I think some of us will be buying more closer it gets to Xmas. i wonder if GOG is planning something for Xmas day? (wonder they will do the day the other sale launches....)
I didn't have any GOG games other than the free ones until yesterday. The D&D Desire deal is just amazing! Regarding the boxes, I had "Nox" from clicking on the classic box, "Shadow Warrior (2013)" on the Brave New World box, and "Deus Ex: GOTY Edition" on the random magic box. It's my chance to pick something up. I'm wondering if I'll get something from my wish list to show up and which box should I click next. This sale is so great for newcomers. Thank you GOG!
I like the sale, but I miss the every Saturday sale. I hope Gog goes back to the regular sale after this one. I like when I could buy one game instead of the whole lot. But I did buy the RPG deal. It was too great to pass by. Gog gave the game plus the expansions, wow. Hope I can pick Deus Ex: GOTY Edition too.
They should go back to regular sales.... but maybe not til after near year. There was an encore sale after the xmas one last year....

I just tried it myself (switched off wifi on my laptop and started the game), the game plays fine offline. Not sure why it isn't working for you. Did you choose the offline option in the game, and didn't try to log in to the leaderboards or whatever?

Then again there's something to be said about the game itself... I must admit I was waiting something more than just steering a ship left and right. Yeah, it's an endless runner game so I should have known it is not more than similar genre games on tablets and smartphones, but somehow I was still expecting a bit more...

The screenshots and such actually reminded me of some (freeware?) Star Wars game from close to a decade ago. The graphics looked somewhat similar to Race the Sun (simplistic shades of gray mainly), but the game was basically an Star Wars action game. Damn I recall I enjoyed it a lot, I wonder if it is still available out there

I also always wondered how on earth it could have been freeware to begin with, since it had very Star Wars-like music, and overall it felt like a proper, albeit a bit simple, Star Wars game... Maybe it was later pulled away for mimicking the SW license too much or something. Now I must search my hard drives if I still have it around somewhere...

Not sure, but you might be talking about Star Wars: The Battle of Yavin.
