Timboli: P.S. While ZP do have discounts now and then, most of the time I come away depressed with the prices, especially for any of the games I am interested in. That also makes me check less often. And if my program is going to return wrong prices, well even less reason to bother. That means I am mostly bothering about new additions, and they don't turn up very often. The website has improved a lot, but for me it is content and price that matters most.
I find it quite impressive that Zoom Platform is being successful and growing the way it is, given that they don't do many sales. They are essentially competing with GOG whilst selling at full price. It seems they are able to do it by competing on quality and customer service. I mean, they have to give GOG a chance somewhere, don't they (in the spirit of fair competition)? ;-)
It's easy to say all that, but I don't get much of a sense of it.

Sure, their website is now a lot better, though to some degree that is superficial ... looks better, and structured a bit better.

As for new games, they just seem to be as slow appearing as they always have since I first visited the store a few years ago.

It is great that we get a few discounts now and then, but it isn't that many.

I wish it was truly as you say, but it doesn't come across that way to me ... and I am in their corner hoping for them to get better. I think a viable alternative to GOG is a great thing for all of us who care about DRM-Free.

I don't really see any evidence of this success you speak of ... a few discounts and improved store aside. It is not equating to more product from what I can see, and surely that is the true measure of success.

GOG has certainly improved just as much as ZP in recent times, maybe more.

Sorry to come across somewhat negative, but I cannot help how I feel.

Long Live the ZOOM Platform!

Linko64: Seems I can't PM you and the last time i answered a question that was I asked I was threatened with legal action (with no grounds, empty threats aren't a good look but hey) by a mod, I would advise hitting mzoom up on Discord or social media.
Must be your settings not mine, or maybe a temporary glitch, folk here PM me all the time.

I don't really care for Discord, I find it discordant, and I've gone off social media. Not aware of mzoom, and to be honest cannot be bothered with yet another chat place. I do use HexChat most days to converse with friends from AutoIt, but forget what service we use now with it, as the original one (freenode) got taken over by some bad egg ... actually it is OFTC we use now.

QWEEDDYZ: This game is restored, so now your tol should show correct price. But there is more games that been removed and store links partially removed (there is direct link but not shown in search like Killing Time and BloodRayne).

Im far away from PC. As i remeber it did show me Fairy Tale correctly. Game restored after all. If not - its issue. I ask about how it read games availability. Some are 'Temporary Unavailable', and some unlistedbut still there in some web api.
My program downloads a comma separated file that provides a list of games and their prices currently at ZOOM Platform.

I have just run CHECK again, and Fairy Tale is still showing as $0.00. I haven't yet investigated to see if an error or something in the file is causing my program to misread the price for that game, and who knows how many others. I guess I should check to see if something untoward with the download may be happening, though I would have thought I coded an alert for that.

My program does not automatically remove games from the list that are no longer available, it does however color each entry where that is the case, and another option can remove them. It won't provide a list of removed games from before you started using my program, only those that have been removed since.

For quite a while now, most of the new additions are games that GOG already provide, or they are not really new games, just games (DLCs mostly) that have been renamed ... some because they had DLC added to the title. I might have bought some of these, but ironically I already had them at GOG.

P.S. Just checked both the other games you mentioned, and all four web pages still exist for me with prices, one free.

ZOOM Checker v1.9 now available.

This is a minor bugfix update for a missing Start price, and includes a Low and Prior check and update.

The seeming bug really only affected one game entry from what I was able to discover, Fairy Tale, and resulted in a price of $0.00 always being shown.

DOWNLOAD - https://github.com/Twombs/ZOOM-Checker/releases/tag/v1.9

INFORMATION - https://github.com/Twombs/ZOOM-Checker

NOTE - Run the CHECK process to correct that game entry.
New game released today at Zoom:

Mega-lo-Mania

A classic strategy game that (afaik) isn't available digitally anywhere else.

Nice hope to see this on GoG as a great game.

Played it loads on the Atari ST. Always put a smile on my face especially when you pause the game and a female voice says "putting you on hold" sad i know but young me was most amused.

This is a thread dedicated to discussing Zoom Platform. I believe my post complies with the GOG forum CoC. If you don't like it, go and read something else.

Public Letter:

Now, to explain the long delay…

As you are likely already aware, Bernie Stolar, our former Chairman, passed away on June 22nd, it became public knowledge on June 25th. EA management sent me a condolences message at Midnight on July 6th...followed 9 hours later by a contract termination notice. The only possible reason being Bernie's death was a material change in the Company and, therefore, acceptable cause. This was not one of our typical ZOOM Platform contracts, but a slightly customized Codemasters agreement.

I immediately went on a mission and spoke with founding members of Electronic Arts as well as former Codemasters executives. All of us jointly reached out to EA CEO, Andrew Wilson, who promised he "would look into this". Silence followed until the afternoon of July 25th when I received an email re-affirming their intent to terminate our contract, emphasizing this is strictly a "business decision”…

The termination has been delayed. However, we’ll need all the help we can get to reverse it. While EA seems to believe that their partnership with GOG makes us redundant, we beg to differ. Several Codemasters titles launched here first. For example, the Overlord series.

Further, GOG deemed the game, Mega-Lo-Mania, released today…impossible. Despite that, the veteran Codemasters management had enough faith in ZOOM Platform to contractually license it. We have now proven them correct.

No matter how many times we prove GOG wrong though…certain publishers just don’t seem to get it.

It's also worth noting that we had prepared a Codemasters Cartoon Collection with all sorts of great titles that was similarly terminated. The launcher and manual were custom made and everything was finished. Please see the attached sample artwork.

Here is a list of the games that would have been included:

Captain Dynamo (1992)

CJ In The USA (1991)

CJ’s Elephant Antics (1992)

Dizzy: The Ultimate Cartoon Adventure (1987)

Fast Food Dizzy (1989)

Dizzy’s Kwik Snax (1989)

Fantasy World Dizzy (1989)

Magicland Dizzy (1990)

Bubble Dizzy (1990)

Dizzy: The Prince of the Yolkfolk (1991)

Fantastic Dizzy (1991)

Seymour Goes To Hollywood (1991)

Steg The Slug (1992)

We are going to hold out as long as we can and do our best to convince them otherwise. However, getting the story out there is paramount. So, please share far and wide.

We sincerely hope Electronic Arts re-evaluates our partnership. Thank you for your time and assistance.

armedready: While EA seems to believe that their partnership with GOG makes us redundant...
Everything else aside, this statement is interesting because I don't think EA particularly cares about GOG either, considering how long its been since we got any new games from them here.
Zoom seems to be upset GOG is selling games they had before them. It seems like Zoom think GOG is doing this on purpose. But this doesn't make sense, because steam had these games forever. All platforms have discount sales. This is coming off really childish from Zoom.

Note: These games were never exclusives to Zoom. They have been on steam and other platforms DRM free. I'm pretty sure steam has them DRM free as well.

From Zoom:
You may have noticed six former Fulqrum Publishing DRM-Free exclusives showed up on GOG today. Most of the list prices were also cut in half. We have dropped our own list prices to match. I'll be frank, we cannot compete with their current sale prices. We strive to deliver the highest quality and customer service. Those are our differentiators. While it would be great to be reckless and have a publisher bail us out financially...(<https://www.thegamer.com/gog-losing-money-cd-projekt/>) if we were always in the red, we'd be out of business...as always, thank you for your support!

But this is the general attitude they seem to portray from everything I've seen from them. Not a good way to conduct a business, not in full view of your (potential) customer base, anyway...
