I was distracted by the grand prix mess the entire sale...
It was a disaster and gave rise to thousands of memes online.

So thoughts on it?

And as a side question, just curious, what did everyone buy? :)

I yearn for regret and remorse from hearing deals I missed out!
I only bought Dark Souls Remastered at 90% off.
Lets see

I got 2 Point Hospital
an FPW DLC
and Super Mega Baseball 2

ALL GREAT PURCHASES which is rare. Typically 1 in every 3 things I buy is a huge mistake.
Ion Mai-- I mean, Ion Fury - wasn't on sale on Steam but I bought it elsewhere with a discount code

Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack - Again, didn't buy through Steam

Creeper World & Creeper World 2 - not through Steam either

Slayer Shock, WW II GI, Hitman GOTY edition, Castlevania Anniversary Collection, Everything, Amid Evil, some game bundles - other stores, again... though I got dropkicked in the nuts when a store had a pricing error fiasco on Castlevania and if I hadn't already bought it elsewhere I could've done so cheaper than I did but thems the breaks I guess

Quern, Cradle, Hedon, Project Warlock, Shadwen, Nine Parchments, some Amanita stuff (soundtracks, basically), Niko, Strafe, Super Kinky, the remainder of Payday 2 crap I didn't already have, Outlaws, Move or Die, Roundabout, 100ft Robot Golf, SOMA, Fear Effect: Sedna, Golf With Your Friends, Call of Juarez 2 - all through Steam and a gift of The Witcher 3 GOTY from a friend and I bought my oldest nephew a copy of Half-Life 2

Image attached of everything (mostly) that I've activated on my account since I left rehab, for those curious.

Oh and Forsaken Remastered here on GOG because... why not? That and it was the last game I bought on Steam because it was on sale before I ended up in the hospital and rehab facility for ~3+ months.

As for my thoughts - the metagame was hot trash. Seeing all the whiners mope about not being able to nickel and dime others through specialty trading cards was amusing ("RRRRAGGH BUT I JUST STOCKED UP TO GET MUH CARDS TO SELL BLEEEARGH") even though Valve announced ahead of the sale start that they would not be doing trading cards for it this year.

Got a 10% off coupon on Steam wallet code from my local online shop, so that was nice.

Buy some DLCs, especially for Age of Empires 2. There will be a new 4K version of it, so it was time to buy it before MS pulled it out of the store and replaced it with the newest version.
Also Eador: Masters of the Broken World - Allied Forces DLC, the devs once mass giveaway the base game there.

But how I wish I could buy old Popcap Games on GOG DRM free.

The Dracula campaign is GREAT!

Some of the others, okay, but obviously fan made.

AOE 2 is a game that always installed in my PC but the progress on the mission campaign itself is on a snail pace :P
I, erm... bought quite a few.

*Disney Infinity 1.0: Gold Edition
*Disney Infinity 2.0: Gold Edition
*Disney Infinity 3.0: Gold Edition (all three for my son)
*Final Fantasy VII
*FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster
*Rise of Nations: Extended Edition (great game; I've had one version or another on every laptop I've ever had)
*Fable The Lost Chapters
*Grand Theft Auto III Trilogy
*Condition Zero
*Day of Defeat: Source
*Team Fortress Classic
*Day of Defeat
*Deathmatch Classic
*Opposing Force
*Ricochet
*Half-Life
*Half-Life: Blue Shift
*Counter-Strike: Source
*Half-Life 1: Source
*Portal 2
*Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
*The Lab
*Zuma Deluxe
*Chuzzle Deluxe
*Peggle Deluxe
*Plants vs. Zombies
*Bejeweled 3 (Zuma++ mostly for playing with my son)

I had my eye on a couple other AAA games, but I'm not buying them until I upgrade my laptop. Even the FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster uses most of my GPU (a 940MX).

Didn't play the Grand Prix, except to cash in a Rp 25k voucher, so no comment on that.

Didnt buy anything as not much that i wanted from steam these days. Shame the sale was a bit off a disaster for some people.
I accumulate money from selling trading cards and get to spend some for major sales, this time i got:

60 Seconds!
Shotgun Legend
Not Dying Today
Sky Force Anniversary
Redeemer
Regions Of Ruin
Unforgiving - A Northern Hymn
Oh...Sir! The Hollywood Roast
Vzerthos: Heir of Thunder
Yeah, Gran Prix was a mess. And there weren't even trading cards, like in previous sales.

I've bought only Braid - just to keep my Steam Market access.
I don't know what the commotion about it was. Something about grandprix point, but I didn't put much weight on it, despite I did buy a couple of games cheap.
It's the worst event I've participated since I joined in 2013. The discounts are disappointing too. Many games, my wishlisted ones like Civilization V don't even discounted or took part in the major sale. 90% discounts or above were not as good as they were before. I guess the good times have ended. I spent less than equivalent of $8 (at regional prices) and here's what I bought:

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (already owned Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel base game)
Payday 2: Ultimate Edition (already owned Payday 2 GOTY, just upgrading)
Age of Empires II HD expansions The African Kingdoms and Rise of the Rajas

my brain couldn't figure out what was going on with the ugly racing game so I gave up and ignored it
