Generally not a fan. It's pretty counter to player enjoyment. It also just leads to convoluted play patterns.

A related thing I'm OK with, that I've seen a few rare places but only example in mind right now is Yakuza Ishin, is where the skill tree (etc) "clears" once full and lets you fill it again. But you don't actually clear/reset anything; you keep everything and it just lets you get all the boosts again (orfor the binary "learn this new skill" it boosts its base power). So it doesn't quite fit except visually.
The idea is essentially based on Rogue-likes. You die, you lose everything except a specific stat, ability, or currency that you can use to make you a little more powerful on your next run. You incrementally build power like this until you beat the game. I'm not a huge fan of the mechanic except in incremental or idle games. I've never liked Rogue-likes.
