Randalator: So technically you might as well use a smartphone, because you've just distributed its capabilities over multiple devices... :D

OldFatGuy: Ah, but not all of the capabilities.... I never have to worry about being bothered by a phone call when I'm not at home, which is something I very much find to be a positive, not a negative....
Cell phones can be set to vibrate, switched off, calls can be denied or sent straight to voicemail,... I really don't think anyone has to worry about being bothered by a phone call.

Or one can simply not have one, and then I really know with certainty that no one has to worry about being bothered by a phone call. LOL

Unless of course it's an emergency and suddenly you're very much bothered by not being able to make or receive a phone call.
My first phone was a Siemens S55, from 2003. Aaaaand I still use it! It has the number I give everyone, and the battery still holds, since I don't get many calls.

About three years ago I got myself a Nokia N9. It runs Linux! ;-) Great machine. At a glace I can always see the time, if I missed a call, got an email... no need to use my hands. I love it! I just wish it had descendants (thanks, Elop and Ballmar! I hope you are happy now!)
I bought a mobile phone many years ago. All it could do was making phone calls, but it could do these really nice. After many years I exchanged it with a smart phone from Samsung (not too expensive). I dropped it, but it did not break. So I still have it. The only thing I regret: it could have been more flat. The next phone I will have in some years maybe will be flat (and smarter) than the previous ones.
My first phone was a legendary Nokia 5110. That thing was so durable and robust. You could drop it thousand times, it would still work.

Edit: The history is not so important. But I still remember my first. :P

Never owned a cell phone because I don't want to be bothered by anyone.
My solution to not being bothered by phonecalls is only sharing my landline number with people. The only exception is sharing my mobile number with people when I'm going on a trip, like a holiday or a business outing and want to be able to reach them. The downside of that exception: there's one colleague of mine who made a habit of using my mobile number when he wants to ask me something. I can understand the habit though, he doesn't have a landline himself. Luckily it's only one person who does so.
