Rick Dangerous. I loved the idea, but it was a complete bitch to play. Each level would take 20 attempts to discover where all traps where then another 20 to get past traps and baddies at the same time.

As for if it would work, why not? Would I play it? Not sure. X)

It started with that falling boulder. You knew what you were getting into from the get go.

Now lookup "Unfair Mario".

Limbo, would make the points you listed. Horror, scary things and death traps. Though, the game is relatively short, on your very first playthrough, you are doomed. The game hides some nasty encounters for the unsuspecting player.

And seeing that boy getting skewered again and again is disturbingly fun, with a nice "creepy" factor. Good example of this combo, yeah.
