DCT: *reads the entire steam post*
There it is the stupidist thing I'll see all day.
Tis exactly. I believe some would liken the post to what they would call "concerned trolling". Seriously, there have always been Anti-GOG folks around, most notably on Steam. Now there is nothing wrong with preferring your platform of choice 100%. But when someone has a lot of prejudice and bias towards an opposing object, their opinion can hardly be considered objective, and is thus not worth bothering with especially when it goes off-tangent like that.
Also, there is no such thing as a one fits all category for everyone. Each gamer has to decide for themselves what's important for them in a gaming platform and pick what they would love to have.
If someone asks me, what I like, is the ability to simply download the game, no fuss, no muss, no DRM and simply pop it in and play. And then, for the game to be updated to the latest version within a set window at least. GOG has more or least delivered these, and a failure of these will be where their chief flaws lie for me. Like any missing updates for games, and a wobbly structure in their game management, where the community had to haul them over for the putting Galaxy into the installer bit. Now it's alright, but you'd need to manually select the classic installers.
For others, it could be a lot different.
Now talking about the stats a bit, in the "6 members went to the GOG HQ" thread, GOG showed out statistics where they
(GOG) are growing reliably, not in danger of shutting down anytime soon, but, they will still need to get larger for the DRM-loving Triple AAA companies to agree to release their games here Day 1 Drm-free, instead of some future Month/Year X time somewhere down the line. I think I would trust the company's own proof in comparison to someone pulling stats out of their ass.
Speculating about the future, I believe the release of Cyberpunk 2077 will be the big blast, where we will really see where GOG is going, one way or the other. Till then, we will enjoy what we have.
