Hobo, the stray who ran with Coyotes.
i was diggin' Bones out of earth-moving construction sites, in the rural outskirts of Chino Hills - for John Minch and Associates (a College Field instructor, turned boss); working as a "Paleontological Investigator" after High School (late 80's).
i lived in the hills and valleys, just off site, alone in tent. Hobo also lived alone in them hills, but ran at tail end of local Coyote Pack. They didn't let him in, yet would not chase him out.
Hobo and i would oft watch the Sunsets and Sunrises together. He coming no closer to me, than he did with the Coyotes.
Then, he was struck by a foremans truck, and taken to hospital. He was to be euthanized if no owner immediately stepped forward. On my behalf, knowing of the friendship between Hobo and i, the foreman agreed to adopt the dog, knowing that i would in turn adopt Hobo from him.
From this point on, Hobo and i were partners.
Wild nature'd tempered by loyal obedience - Hobo.
