Hey guys, just made the permanent switch and I'm loving it.

Do you think there's a chance we'll see Witcher 3 on Linux?

Hopefully I'm not beating a dead horse.
I don’t know anything about CD Projekt Red’s plans about The Witcher 3 on GNU/Linux (I still need to play through TW1 & 2 before taking an active interest into the third opus)…
But I’m posting here anyway to welcome you warmly on the Light Side of the Force ;-)

The Linux version will probably only come out when all content for TW3 is made and more bugs are fixed, and the game is considered 'complete'. But that is only guesswork. Maybe they are working to implement Vulcan as well.

I really do hope that TW3 is getting a native Linux version - and not just a windows version running through Wine, like TW2 is.

While waiting, you could add your vote to the community wishlist.
I have a strong feeling that we wont see Witcher3 on linux before 2020. When three CDproject representatives were broadcasting the play on Twitch, maybe 100 different people asked about linux version and they totally ignored the question. They could say something simple like " we will do it but there is no specific time at the moment" but they chose to act like we didnt exist.

Edit: Typo.

More speculation here.

I, on the other hand, find the eON-powered "port" of Saints Row: Gat out of Hell to run fairly well, and actually wouldn't mind the same for The Witcher 3. Yes, the former is undoubtedly a lot worse than its Windows release, but as far as I'm concerned, it's good enough (on a Radeon R9 270X, with Mesa drivers rather than proprietary).

Yes, a native release would be preferable, but a Wine-powered one is better than nothing.

Witcher 1 on Linux would be enough for me atm.
Nope won't happen any time soon. CD RED has always been more or less pro Windows. If they were interested in Linux/Mac they would have developed the game cross platform. Which also show why gog is not very pro linux/mac.

Yeah, I wish they would have made Witcher 3 in the current Unreal or Unity engine, both are great for Linux ports.

Agreed. Unreal engine would be perfect for Witcher 3.
