A feature I've seen on other fora is a voting system for wishlists.

Each user has a limited number of votes (say, 10) to allocate to wishes on the wishlist and these votes are only returned to the user once the wish has been fulfilled (or otherwise closed).

This will hopefully reduce the number of duplicate wishes and improve the quality of suggestions. GOG will potentially be incentivized to act on, and close more tickets as well.

What say you GOGers?

That's not even taking into account the fact that the Wishlist is still in beta...
And the fact that it's likely only one of many things GOG takes into account to determine whether to bring a game to the store...
And the fact that duplicate wishes would still be a thing anyways due to the fact that people are people and simply don't search before making a wish...
And the fact that quality of suggestions is entirely subjective and this would by no means prevent people from submitting gimped or troll wishes anyways...
And the fact that you can spawn an alt on this place and make 10 new wishes with that alt in less than a minute...

And the fact that obtaining a game and getting it running is quite a lot of work.

I don't think limited votes is the answer. There are a lot more than 10 games that GOG doesn't have that I'd like to see here. I could probably list 20 DOS games alone excluding everything missing from 1995 onwards. And some games have been up forever, eg, still waiting for Heretic (1994) & Hexen (1995) so for a lot of games like that, locked votes that remain incomplete for years on end won't be released anywhere near fast enough to keep up with desired votes for newer games. So either you abandon the old vote to free up a vote for a new one, or go without voting for the new one, which in both cases will artificially reduce apparent demand for the game.

The problem with duplicates is more laziness at not using the search feature than actual voting itself. Ideally the site could be upgraded so when creating a new list it does an auto-search for the title and comes back with "Did you mean this xxx game? If there's already a wishlist for that, please use that instead to avoid split votes". That and make the rules clearer to stop people creating new lists that just bundle together existing listed unrelated games.
